Bon Appetit French Bakery and Cafe
420 Mary Esther Cut Off NW, Destin, FL
Crema's Take
“This charming French bakery in Destin captures the essence of a traditional Parisian café with its stellar pastry case that makes choosing nearly impossible—locals consistently rave about the cream puffs, figure eights, and almond croissants that keep them coming back. The espresso drinks are solid and pair beautifully with their fresh-baked offerings, making it the ideal spot for a sweet morning treat or a quick grab before heading out, though opinions on their savory options and overall consistency seem more mixed.”

This is a pleasant place with amazing pastries. It is always too difficult to select. Frequently I take home too many items. Today I will just take home the fabulous Cream Puffs. But first I am enjoying a spinach & feta croissant with mocha cappuccino! Nothing here will disappoint you!!
I’m gonna be honest, I always come here because there are no more options out there. Deserts are average. But I got cherry tart kind of dessert and that was really really bad. Im forcing myself to eat. Also there are at least 4 people working there and service is still not good. Maybe because 3 of them prefer to talk while people are waiting for giving orders and just one blond lady is running around. Something is wrong about it. I don’t understand why people say oh it’s a good place!
Came in to treat myself to a sweet birthday breakfast :). I absolutely loved all three items I had (a figure eight, almond croissant, and one vanilla macaron.) The staff didn’t seem very friendly but maybe the people I spoke to were having a bad day! We’re all human after all.
Gosh, I REALLY want to love this place, but it comes up short in some basic, but important ways. First and foremost, their croissants. This quintessential French pastry is a must for any French bakery, and Bon Appetit's ARE tasty - however, if you want it hot, the only way to have it heated up is in a microwave, which COMPLETELY ruins it! Instead of flaky and tasty, it becomes soggy and bleh. We ordered the ham and cheese croissant while dining in, so they heated it, and I was sorely disappointed. I ordered one to take home, heated it in the toaster oven, and it was absolutely delicious! If you're taking the time to make them, serve them right, in my opinion. The other pastries were as expected for a French bakery, and personally, not my thing, but my family loves them (in general) and enjoyed them here, as well. As for the coffee, it was mediocre, nothing to get excited about, but it WAS served in a mug (versus paper), and I do appreciate that. Last, but certainly not least, was the service. It was quite busy when we went, but were were helped by 3 different waitresses and not one of them was friendly. They were very short, rushed and even when I tried to make a joke to lighten the mood, it was passed over. Overall, I recommend a visit, but I am hoping the owners read my review and consider a toaster oven to make their hot options reflect the deliciousness they deserve.
After an early morning appointment I discovered this great bakery with an eye popping array of fresh and delicious baked goods 😍. I enjoyed a delicious turkey and cheese croissant and a vanilla cappuccino. Very, very good! I brought home a loaf of their black pepper Parmesan bread, it was delicious tonight with my soup and a chocolate croissant and an almond croissant. The atmosphere was enjoyable and the service was great. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
