Common Ground

1111 Bishop St, Honolulu, HI

★★★★★4.9(8 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

This petite downtown Honolulu café punches above its weight with thoughtfully sourced Big Island coffee and creative specialty drinks like their coconut hibiscus matcha made with premium Pono Potions syrups, all served in a dog-friendly space that doubles as a local brand showcase. Beyond solid espresso and early 6am opening, Common Ground wins points for approachability—affordable pastries and $4 double shots make quality coffee accessible, though their single-origin bags skew pricey for what you're getting. The modest sidewalk seating is lively if loud, but the connection to the AC Hotel and curated local merch collection give it a genuine neighborhood hub feel.

Enjoyed my espresso. Stick shocked at the drip coffee for sale. $40 for a small bag of 20% kona, 30% ka'u and 50% "world coffee" seems high to me...though. Downtown prices?

The barista made me a Delicious matcha special (Coconut hibiscus) Not overly sweet and premium matcha flavor. They use Pono Potions syrups yay! I am sure their espresso drinks will be a solid option. -Will update my review when I visit again next week! The coffee shop is on a busy street but feels cozy with a few tables outside. You can work on your laptop here and feel the downtown vibe.

Quite good coffee, in fact. My Americano proved more than satisfying. Good beans. Tiny little shop, lots of merch, most of which features local brands. The fact that this place invites pets is kind of gross from a sanitary point, but hey, I drink out of my cup, you drink out of yours.

A new & fashionable storefront café selling Big Island brand coffee is a great treat. Limited exterior seating onsite is a bit loud with traffic, but it is connected to the AC Hotel which makes it easy to find some space in there. Great quality coffee and reasonably priced for the location downtown. Check hours to be sure they’re open & read parking signs downtown. If I worked closer I’d be a regular. 🤙🏼
