Crema's Take

This San Diego institution has been a steadfast study haven for over two decades, beloved by students and remote workers who appreciate its late hours (until 11 pm), abundant outlets, and genuinely cozy atmosphere that somehow stays welcoming even when busy. The cinnamon lattes are dreamy and creamy, the pastries and light food come in generous portions without sacrificing quality, and there's a real sense of community here—whether you're cramming for exams, settling in with a book, or catching up with friends over matcha tea.

I use to go here all the time to study while a student at SDSU in the early 2000s. It's great to see this place is still popular with students and people looking for a place to have a drink do work, catch up with friends, or study. Great food and unique drinks. Keep on doing it!

I always love to sit down and drink a coffee and read my book here. Obviously the atmosphere is very much impacted by the nearby university, but if you like that or if you can ignore it, this place is a perfect place to relax. Staff is always very nice and coffee is always great. I recommend the philly cheesesteak.

This is one of the few cafés open late (until 11 pm). It’s the perfect spot for studying, working on your laptop, reading, or catching up with friends. It’s cozy, with plenty of outlets to charge your laptop or phone — even at the outdoor tables. Because of this, it can sometimes be hard to find a table or parking, especially since many students from nearby SDSU spend their afternoons here doing homework. But I can’t complain — I’ve also spent hours here reading and editing videos 😅 As for the food, I like the Sunrise Bagel, the grilled salmon salad, and the Ahi tuna steak sandwich. If you're craving something sweet, I’d recommend the Caramel by the Sea or the Nutella Danish. If you’re tired and need an energy boost, try a latte with an extra shot of espresso. One thing worth mentioning: they rarely clean the tables, so you might find dirty dishes left for a while or sticky surfaces (it’s happened to me often). Still, overall, it’s a comfortable place to hang out with a good cup of coffee.

I stumbled upon this café on my way to an appointment and so glad I did! I ordered a cinnamon latte which was absolutely delicious and so creamy and round and taste. I also ordered the scrambled eggs, avocado, and bacon toast, which was incredibly delicious and tasty. Customer service was impeccable! I will be back.

The portions are very large here, but the quality stays tasty. I was here for my first time the other day and thought it was such a lovely cafe. I can’t wait to go back! I brought quite an appetite and was grateful to have been warned + there are easily accessible take out containers (not plastic 👏🏼) to doggie bag. Breakfast food is superb here and what they are truly known for. Thought multiple people suggested the hash brown burrito, I chose to go with the Rancho omelette which was served with hash browns and tasty well toasted sourdough. My coffee was also delicious. The place is busy and people love to peruse their electronics and/or hang out or work for extended periods of time so we waited a bit to order in addition to finding a seat. It was great to see they are innovating with a seemingly new self service ordering option. Sadly, I did not have room for dessert but that looks like a must for the next visit!
