Crema's Take
“Onyx Tonics is a thoughtfully curated coffee destination where the baristas genuinely care about guiding you through their rotating selection of beans from different roasters each week, making it ideal whether you're a curious first-timer or a coffee enthusiast seeking to explore new flavors. The shop strikes a welcoming balance between approachable warmth and serious craft—their espresso and pour over drinks are executed with real precision, and the calm, quiet atmosphere makes it perfect for lingering over a cup or catching up with friends. It's the kind of place where the "coffee snob vibes" feel more like passion than pretension, backed up by consistently excellent drinks and staff who actually want to help you find something you'll love.”

First and foremost, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. My wife and I plus 4 others all first timers. A staff member broke down all the different types of coffee, options, and suggestions for us, as we took time to decide what we wanted to try. There menu rotates constantly and has only the freshest coffees and brews. I tried the hand brewed coffee black, and it was hands down the best black coffee my wife and I have tried. My wife got a specialty latte and enjoyed it as we walked up and down church st with our coffees keeping our hands warm as we explored all the shops. Great atmosphere, great staff, and a wonderful experience.
Wanting to find a superb coffee shop is exactly why I read Google reviews. If you appreciate actual espresso or excellent pour over coffee this shop will not disappoint. As I understand, they rotate through different selections of beans. Their menu provides you with information on each option of bean such as location, process and notes. I went with the La Pradera beans in a simple whole milk latte and it was excellent. I honestly have nothing more to say besides if you want to have a great cup of coffee, it’s here for you.
A quiet place for a hotel guest to get a good coffee. Easy short walk from Marriott Lakeside etc . Even in the rain. It’s got a great vibe but yes extremely academic about coffee. That can be fun. The counter guy is friendly. However the taste of my Americano is a bit…well .. bitter I guess is the word. Academically speaking. The music is quiet and that’s a plus though .. what Is this? A cross between David Gates and uh lotta reverb. Gosh I think I am enjoying myself. The room is very clean like study hall. This is a place worthy of support.
Really cute little coffee shop. Does give coffee snob vibes but not in a bad way. The barista was very helpful because the menu was confusing. But, the coffee tasted very good and I was highly impressed. And it was not a bad price either compared to other places in the city. I would definitely come back again.
interesting cafe in terms of they rotate the beans from different roasters that they use on a weekly basis so if you’re the type of person that likes to try different beans/coffee this is place for you. definitely one of the better specialty coffee places in the area. nice place to study or journal for a bit and just a couple of steps away from all the other shops in downtown on church street.
