Crema's Take

Nestled within the serene Huntington Chinese Garden in San Marino, this tea pavilion offers a peaceful respite with Asian-inspired drinks and snacks, though service can be inconsistent. Their taro milk tea stands out as a crowd-pleaser that appeals to both caffeine seekers and families looking for gentler options, though bubble tea quality and pricing have left some customers wanting. The garden location itself is the real draw—a thoughtful complement to exploring the library and gardens rather than a destination on its own.

The staff was extremely rude to me when I walked in, ruining my trip to the Huntington. Most likely just because I look young. The cashier screamed at me to exit the other way. Zero manners, no “please” - just screaming a command. I deserve respect. This is completely unacceptable and shameful. I issued a written complaint to the Huntington management about this incident.

Boba and milk tea are very mediocre and quite expensive

The Freshwater Pavilion is a wonderful addition to the Huntington Chinese Garden. The small tea house sells an assortment of Asian snacks, drinks, teas, boba, and grab-and-go food. Its location offers plenty of outdoor seating next to the garden's beautiful lake, with a view of the Suzhou-style pavilions on either side. It's the perfect place to enjoy the gardens while having a quick sip of Milk Tea.

Decent spot for bubble tea while visiting Huntington Library, if you catch the hours! Our favorite pit stop. Taro milk tea drink is a great caffeine-free option for the littles. Packaged and deli snacks available too. Outdoor seating only, by the lovely fish pond.

A place to get some refreshments. They sell coffee, boba, bakery items and some snacks. No comment on snacks except for the price. More expensive than on the market, which is to be expected. The boba was average, nothing special. The plain croissant was just okay. The good thing about this place is the viewing of the lake and Chinese garden. That’s all there is to it.
