Crema's Take
“Royal York Coffee & Tea is a charming Highland Park destination that transforms the traditional café experience into something more ceremonial, with their signature high tea and afternoon tea services that come complete with curated tea selections, delicate sandwiches, and thoughtfully plated sweets. The space itself radiates a peaceful yet playful energy, with beautiful décor that makes it feel like a special occasion spot whether you're celebrating solo or gathering with friends and family. Beyond the theatrical tea experiences, they offer a solid roster of matcha drinks and pastries, making it equally welcoming for a casual breakfast or a quick meeting over quality beverages.”

I booked a high tea experience for myself as a personal celebration moment. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The ambiance was peaceful and groovy at the same time. The decor is beautiful too! I had the spiced grape and strawberry salad, corn chowder. Three tea-sized (but generous) savories: turkey, egg salad, and a tomato balsamic avocado. All delicious! My tea selections were an Earl Grey, the Milky China Jade and the Ice Spice (all hot). And I was very pleased with the way they complemented each course. The food was delicious and tea selection top tier. I will do this again.
The experience was amazing! The owner is so sweet and I had a wonderful time. I also love the atmosphere. Everything was so cute! I did the Afternoon Tea which came with 3 teas, 3 sandwiches and 4 sweets. All the food combination went well with the teas. There is a specific menu for this option however there is also a full menu. The Afternoon Tea is more like a sampling experience rather than a full course. Very classy and I like it! I highly recommend the guava mango and the China Milky Jade teas. I ordered the turkey and provolone, tuna, and caprese sandwich and my favorite was the caprese. I ordered a full size to go. The photo of the tea I took was South Pacific. Forgot to take the rest since I was in the moment.
My friend and I did "Petite High Tea ($45 per person)" in Sunday 4:30pm. How it worked was we made a reservation online and paid $50 ($25 per person) deposit first there. And after we had our tea set on the table, we paid for the rest of the price which was $19. From the petit high tea set, we got to chose 2 types of sandwiches and tea in our table (We each chose 1 sandwich and tea). For experience, we had a really good time! Loved their tea and sweets plus savories. The staffs are also welcoming and friendly. And above all.. anywhere you see in this cafe, it's so cute and photogenic!! I assure you any girly girl would love this cute caffe. I'll definitely visit there again.
Hi quick meeting today brunch this cute Tea house in Detroit on the Avenue of fashion. Lily's &Elise. Great variety of tea choices very flavorful. Nice menu reasonably priced. The smoky flavor of the chicken & bacon hash different and the cilantro creamer top this off nicely. My crossaint was soft and fresh the great food and tea distracted me from the meeting a little 🤣. I enjoyed the quick brunch meeting. 1659 happy once again . There was more ordered by others eggs bacon sour dough toast . They have seasonal dishes also check them out. Parking off 7 mile might help Livernois is a pretty busy street.
I went back as stated in my previous review and told 10 people who came with me. Unfortunately, the place is under new management and there are different rules. Nothing on the website or on the restaurant menu indicates a customer CANNOT order additional items off the menu if they pay for tea service. We were the first customers in the place and was seated by the nicest waitress. A few minutes later another person and the nicest waitress came to our table and announced the new rules under management. All the staff is new. We understood that because we were a party of 11 we would have to pay the tea service but we request to have breakfast instead of cold sandwiches at 10am. The ladies left and came back with the owner who didn’t care if we were paying for the tea service and wanted to order other items on the menu. She said it would take 2 hours to cook our breakfast and she will not have her cooks do that. My question was if we were 2 parties at five, that came in at the same time how would that be handled? Crickets The most upsetting part was that we were celebrating my 2nd year cancer free, my nieces first tea experience and my cousin birthday by dressing up in our tea attire and didn’t get to have them experience what we did our first time. After the conversation we kindly got up and took our business elsewhere to Dearborn Brunch House which was able to accommodate us and the food was excellent. Pictures of of the food attached.
