Crema's Take

This Johns Island drive-thru is built for coffee lovers who want quality espresso without the fuss, with a reputation for avoiding the burnt, over-roasted beans that plague so many chains. While the operation has some consistency hiccups—particularly with drink execution and order-taking flow—regulars praise the genuinely nice staff and the ability to grab a solid cup on your way out the door early in the morning. It's the kind of spot that works best if you know what you want and don't mind the occasional rough edge.

I pulled around to the second window because I had never been to this place before . After waiting forever the cashier told me that I had to pull around to the other side of the building to order behind someone else who came after me. She assured me it would be “quick” but I’ll buy coffee from somewhere else. It’s pretty lazy when you can’t walk my card 5ft. It’s 2pm in the afternoon, you could’ve taken care of me then. It’s not like I’m asking you to break process when there are 7 cars behind me at 9am.

Very nice people. Good coffee. No burnt beans here! The food menu is limited, but as it should be for a drive thru. Good stop!!

Southern Brew Coffee is easily one of the worst coffee experiences I’ve ever had. The coffee is consistently watered down and tastes awful no matter what I order. I paid $9 for what they call a medium—which is only 12 ounces. Not worth it at all. The staff is just as disappointing: every time I’ve gone, they’ve been rude and clearly unhappy to be there. I’ve given this place three chances, and each time has been the same story. To make matters worse, their iced coffee is a joke—it always comes out hot with just a couple of ice cubes thrown in, as if they don’t care how it’s served. It’s never made correctly, and honestly, it feels like nobody there even tries. This was my third and final visit. I will not be going back.

I really wish this yummy coffee spot had a great customer service person taking orders. Unfortunately, it makes me upset week to week when the freckled-faced person at the window just stares at me when I greet her with a "hello, how are you" and says nothing when I say "thank you, have a good day". It ruins it for me.

We ordered large iced drinks, which were six dollars each, the “large” cups are only 16 oz cups. The caramel macchiato was not layered, which is the definition of a macchiato. We ordered the rocky Road and the salted caramel mocha, both of which just taste like warm chocolate milk with ice in it. How do you make an iced drink that’s warm with ice?? Are they not refrigerating the milk? I’m all about supporting local business, but this place has to do better. Definitely a waste of $20!
