Mawadah Cafe

Crema's Take

Mawadah Cafe is a cultural hub on Lake Street that transforms a simple coffee run into something much larger, blending carefully crafted drinks like their beloved tiramisu matcha with an art gallery atmosphere, cozy gaming nooks, and authentic Somali pastries that keep people coming back. Beyond the stellar specialty menu and warm spiced sambusas, what really sets this spot apart is how intentionally it's built as a gathering place—hosting events and creating the kind of slow, immersive experience where you can lose hours in genuinely calming vibes. It's the kind of place where a quick coffee detour becomes a discovery.

I love this place! I always get the tiramisu matcha. But they got a “secret” menu that I really like too. I also love how they host events.

Went in for a quick coffee, but the sambusas in the case looked too good to pass up. I'm so glad I bought some! The spices were warm and flavorful, the beef was juicy. And the caramel machiatto ended up being a nice little dessert. Thanks to the clerk at the counter for the lovely chat and recommendation. I'll be back with friends soon!

This is a spot on Lake St worth stopping for! Mawadah Cafe is more than a cafe, it’s an art gallery, cozy game lounge, and a cultural immersion experience. The is a beautifully & intentionally curated space that folks of all ages can come and unwind. The drinks are delicious and made with care. Come in for a much needed breath of fresh air.

I am making this review because I feel I have too. This place is NOT review bombed. I looked up somali tea on google maps, and found this place. I saw that it had 34 reviews with 5 stars and was suspicious. Came here, it is just that good (and quite new). Me and my mom ordered somali teas (less sweet) and found them delicious. Interior is super nice. Will be coming back to try the date smoothie. Plus the lady was super friendly and answered all our questions!

Stopped by here for a few hours while waiting for my car to be serviced nearby, and it is a hidden gem!! Beautiful interior, smells so good and very calming vibes. Got a chai latte, which was absolutely delicious, and the woman working there was so friendly and kind. They also have games to play if you come with a group, which I thought was cool. Definitely recommend
