Crema's Take

Dick Mondell's is a Gainesville institution where the milkshakes and burgers are genuinely worth the drive-thru wait, though consistency seems to be their Achilles heel. While some folks rave about their chicken burgers and sweet potato tots as standouts, others report overcooked patties and notably sad salads (apparently whole, undressed lettuce leaves have made appearances). If you're craving a classic burger-and-shake combo and don't mind a bit of unpredictability, the nostalgic charm and decent portions make it a solid quick stop, just maybe skip the salad.

Ordered a burger, salad, and strawberry milkshake. Salad- 0/5 they did not chop the lettuce. Yes, at all. Full leaves of lettuce with dressing. Impossible to eat and soggy. Burger- 3/5 it’s a fine burger, but dripping in grease. Milkshake- 2/5 tastes like the strawberry milkshake from Circle K. Just sugary and artificial tasting.

The portions aren't bad for the burgers. I wasn't too sold on the fries, but the milk shakes are good. Be prepared to wait as the drive thru gets really busy. The good news is they do have a walk up counter plus tables where you can eat.

OKAY BURGER PLACE… Tried their burgers, milkshake, and salad. All which were okay… I think there’s better places but it’s cheap and fast.

One of the best burgers, if not the best, in Gainesville. The chicken burgers are delicious as well. Cannot beat the French fries and the sweet potato tots are a nice twist. The salads are fantastic too! They've got seasonal milkshake flavors which are fun. It's mainly a drive thru but there is a walk up counter with several outdoor tables as well.

It was pretty good when I first opened even for being how expensive it is. A few years later now you will wait 10 minutes for a burger that is so over cooked, it’s crunchy. For a place that only has outdoor seating, no parking or bathrooms and extra for cheese. They are making a killing off the locals. But not me. Not anymore. Paid for it though, so gotta eat it since I’m already home 😭 The workers are still friendly as ever but the food is not worth the $ or wait anymore.
