Mad Dogs & Englishmen

Came to Carmel for a girls trip and we wanted to try this out! We had a great experience at the cafe with its beautiful ambiance, delicious drinks, and hospitable staff. While we didn’t go all the way through 17 mile drive due to our own inexperience to e-bikes, we still had a great experience and the dogs ( Lily and Apollo) loved it! Shout out to David for instruction. Madeline helped out out at the bike shop and on the cafe- you were so sweet and soft spoken. Last but not least, it was a pleasure and privilege to meet the man, the myth, the legend: Martin himself! You were a treat to meet and very nice to help us with our stuff and give us complimentary stickers!

I took my dog out in a bicycle with a sidecar. The staff was very helpful and informative; we were helped by Madeline and Dave who were both great. It was clear that both dog and rider safety are a high priority to this establishment; they took the time to show us how the e-bikes worked and secure the dogs. Also, the bicycles, helmets, and sidecars were all high quality and sturdy. The sidecars have several different clips to ensure that the dog can’t jump out. Yeah, the rental is pricey, but the adventure is worth it. Also, the coffee shop has some of the best coffee and matcha that I’ve ever had!

We went to Carmel for the weekend and wanted to find some dog friendly activities. This was probably our favorite thing we did all weekend. Leslie was our tour guide and she knew so much history of the town. The sites on the tour were beautiful! We saw the multi million dollar homes and the beaches. We were also off leash for a bit on the beach so beans got to experience that too. 10/10 for this whole experience. We would do this again and it was worth every penny!!

My wife and I went to Carmel for my birthday, and we met Jennifer and Martin out and about. They were very sweet and told us all about their business in town, so we ended up doing the electric bike rental while we were there! I’ve never been on an electric bike and now I want to rent one everywhere we go! It was gorgeous day and such a fun adventure, something I wouldn’t have necessarily done! We tried to go to the coffee shop upstairs 3x but it’s SO SUCCESSFUL that it’s a line out of the door at ALL TIMES OF DAY! We will for sure be back to rent bikes and finally try the coffee shop, plus say hello to Jennifer and Martin! Thanks for the great hospitality!

Mad Dogs & Englishmen was an absolute highlight of our time in Carmel. The bike shop team was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, not just about the bikes, but also about the area and how to ease our pups into the ride comfortably. The bikes themselves were smooth, easy to handle, and perfect for exploring the stunning views. We were glad we booked a full-day rental…three hours would’ve been far too short! Once we were back, the coffee shop was just as fantastic, with creative drinks (the vanilla cardamom latte became a daily order) and sweet touches like complimentary pup cups. All around, an amazing experience for humans and pups.
