Java Junction

Crema's Take
“Java Junction is a beloved neighborhood spot in Santa Cruz that pulls in regulars with its bold, espresso-forward drinks and creative specialty beverages, especially their cold brew that keeps folks coming back on their coffee runs. The casual, welcoming vibe with friendly staff and generous seating makes it perfect for a quick grab before work or a lingering visit, though be aware they don't have restroom access. While the coffee is the real star here—with notably darker roasts that pack a serious punch—the food is inconsistent, so stick to what they do best: quality drinks that satisfy even the most discerning coffee drinker.”

My interaction was pleasant, but the food was terrible. I got an avocado toast. It was a small sad, soggy piece of bread with a thin layer of mushed up avocado and a tiny bit of pepper sprinkled on top and that’s it. I paid nine dollars for what seems like a dollar store wheat bread and maybe half of an avocado mushed up. Very low quality. I’m sadly not over exaggerating when I say it was bad.
Closest Coffee Shop (0.5 miles) from where I work M-F which is savior to me whenever I forget my daily coffee from home. I race to Java Junction grab a cold brew/specialty coffee drink, or house depending on how I feel & either a hard boiled egg, Zucchini bread, Almond crescent. There are plenty of choices. The staff are always smiling, friendly atmosphere seating inside and outside.
Staff was friendly, and there was plenty of seating inside and out. NO RESTROOMS available. Took my break here on 7-21-2025 and they have now removed access to wash hands or use restroom. No restroom anywhere in the area. Staff suggested driving to Ocean st. Will not return again due to lacking hand washing station to eat food at coffee shop.
Cortado: The roast of the beans seems darker than most other espressos I have tried. Even though this drink had only 2 espresso shots it was still very bold and strong. Other than that the drink was good. Morning Bun: Not super sweet which was nice. The bottom was nice and moist and the top had a slight crunch and the addition of some sugar. Went very well with my cortado.
Really good food and coffee here. I had the turkey cranberry sandwich and it was very good. We also got the strawberry smoothie which hit the spot. The stars of the show might just be the flavored coffees. Snickers mocha and the Milky Way mocha were so good. We are coming back for sure. And the inside is very clean and spacious. There is also an outside patio. Plenty of parking. I highly recommend this spot.
