Crema's Take

Texas Expresso is a beloved campus fixture that takes its espresso seriously with a classic Italian approach, drawing loyal regulars who camp out for hours to study alongside expertly pulled shots. The kolaches and fresh lunch specials (especially the half sandwich and soup combo) elevate it beyond typical coffee shop fare, though you'll want to go when you're in a patient mood—quality takes time, and service consistency seems to depend on who's behind the counter. It's the kind of place students discover freshman year and never leave, fiercely protective of its status as UT's best-kept caffeine and carb destination.

The food and coffee are always good. I feel like the prices are a bit high. My biggest issue is the service. The staff are always a little rude, even if it's not particularly busy. Probably have more than one person taking orders, heating food, and making drinks Nonetheless, the atmosphere is nice, it's fairly quiet, and it's always a good experience

This place is the only reason I graduated. Best coffee on campus, love the Kolaches, the staff is always friendly and your order comes out quickly.

This is the best kept secret on UT campus and I am slightly scared to write this review as I hope it stays that way... But this place is top notch quality across the board. Classic Italian espresso beverages done to perfection, great paninis and snacks. Even the bagels here are outstanding, better than many custom bagel shops. So grateful for this oasis of culture on Waller creek!

I’m a graduate student at UT and study here almost everyday. The food is high quality, tasty, and fresh. I normally get the half sandwich and soup special and it never fails. The coffee is great, I’m an ex-barista so I know good coffee. Speaking of baristas, the staff is SO kind. They go out of their way to make sure your order is satisfied and never make a bad latte. I love my study trips to the cafe!!
