Crema's Take

This espresso-focused spot on Charlotte Avenue wins hearts with creative seasonal drinks that go beyond the typical coffee shop fare, like their inventive lavender honey latte and thoughtful non-coffee options that rotate with the seasons. The space itself is a draw—bright and welcoming for both quick coffee runs and long work sessions—though quality can be inconsistent, so you might want to stick with their signature specialty drinks rather than expecting miracles from a standard latte.

I’ve visited this cafe a few times and wanted to share some feedback about customer service, because the interactions I’ve had recently were surprisingly unpleasant. On one visit, I brought my dishes up to the counter to be helpful, and the barista abruptly told me to put them in a dishwashing bin off to the side. I completely understand that cafes have their own systems, but the way this was communicated felt dismissive rather than appreciative. A simple “Thanks so much for bringing those up. Would you mind placing them in the bin to the left?” would have made the interaction feel respectful and welcoming. About a week later, I had a similar experience with another woman. While I was in the middle of an important conversation with a colleague of mine, the cafe staff member interrupted me from behind, made me turn around, and scolded me for not busing my own table, again directing me to the rubber bin. There were no visible signs explaining this policy, and in most Nashville cafes table clearing is handled by staff, so the expectation itself was unclear. More importantly, the tone felt unnecessarily confrontational. I have no issue following house policies. I’m happy to bus my table if them's the rules at this cafe, but communication matters. Both interactions left me feeling unwelcome and put a damper on what should have been an enjoyable visit, especially given the premium price point. I hope this feedback is helpful, because the space and coffee are otherwise great. A small adjustment in how requests are communicated to customers would make a big difference in the overall experience.

maybe caught someone on a bad day - but very rude staff. they accidentally served me two of an item and I tried to help them by not taking the second copy of the item and just got a ton of attitude. small thing but there are tons of great coffee shops nearby so won't be returning and won't be recommending - customer service matters and this interaction and scone left a bad taste

8th & Roast is my favorite coffee shop in Nashville. Their seasonal drinks are always creative and fun, and I particularly appreciate the non-coffee seasonal options. I loved their Valentine’s day matcha, their autumnal chai lattes, and their The Holiday (2006) drink (matcha with cranberry and orange!). I’ve had some of the food options, but the real winners are the delightful drinks and kind baristas. Do yourself a favor and drop by, you’ll be so glad you did.

I wish desperately that this coffee was good even a little bit, but it is not. Paid $9 for a peppermint mocha and it just tastes like a mediocre plain latte. It barely tastes like coffee. The atmosphere is nice and the employees are all lovely; but the coffee is weak and outrageously priced for essentially paying for milk.

What an incredible space to work or study! Coffee is great. I tried their seasons special — Lavender honey Latte (iced) and it was very uniquely good. 8th and Roast is so consistently good with their espresso, be it airport location or their stand alone location. It’s one of those chains that strive to be as good as your local cafe but have all the consistency and standardization of a chain. There’s so much space inside to host a large crowd. A few tables outside as well. There’s a parking lot nearby and some spots reserved for 10-min pick-up customers as well. Very impressed with their efficiency. I’ll be coming here again.
