Must Have Coffee
141 N Atlantic Blvd, San Gabriel, CA
Crema's Take
“Must Have is a dessert-forward café in Monterey Park where creative matcha drinks and pastries steal the show—think strawberry yakult matcha and banana mazapan lattes alongside croissant waffles and pastries that justify lingering with friends. The cozy spot has a casual vibe with a kiosk ordering system, though be warned: drinks skew sweet and prices run higher than typical for the SGV, so it's better framed as a treat destination than your daily coffee run.”

More of a dessert shop than a coffee or tea place. You can smell the sugar at the moment you walk in. On the pricier side for a mid drink that’s still too sweet after asking for 50% sugar.
Date of visit: June 2025 Must Have is next to the fountain facing Atlantic Blvd. Ordering is at the tall kiosk, so you have to pay with credit card/tap. You can make adjustments to your drink. They also have food like waffles or something. The kiosk made the shop feel less inviting because there was no warm smile to greet you. I wanted to like this place because it's new and there just weren't many coffee shops in the area at the time. However the drinks were slightly disappointing. The egg coffee was just ok.. and the one time I got a hot hojicha latte, all the bitter tea particles sunk to the bottom. So they either didn't mix well or had a bad/old batch? It's a nice spot to do work or study. They have outlets and a comfy wall couch! -bathroom available -free wifi -free parking
Finally got to do a food review in the SGV, and @musthavecafe did not disappoint! 🙏 follow @no0delle for more food recs 𝜗𝜚⋆₊˚ Must Have Coffee 📍141 N Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754 Walking into this cafe felt like walking home. The setup was like a cozy living room filled with a bunch of Christmas decorations, and it was honestly so so cute!! 🎄🎅 The drinks were delicious and not that sweet which are obviously the best compliment you could ask for (duh😝!!) The matcha was smooth and didn’t have a bitter aftertaste. I personally really liked the cheese coffee because the cheese reminded me of the type of cheese I used to eat when I was younger, although it is an acquired taste. Def need to try when in the sgv! ⋆˙⟡♡ Order info ‧₊˚ 𓐐𓎩 ₊˚⊹♡ 🌟cheese coffee 🌟banana matcha 🌟mazapan frappe more info - ⭐️5/5 💰2/5 ($) 🅿️ free plaza parking ⏰ 9:00AM-8:00PM daily 👥 staff are super friendly and play good music
Great matcha, food, vibes, and people. I got the strawberry yakult matcha ($7.50), banana mazapan matcha ($7.50), strawberry banana croffle ($6.95), and banana Nutella muffin ($5.15). The matchas were smooth, earthy, not too sweet, and delicious. Strawberry matcha is just a good combo period. And the banana mazapan one had a light banana flavor with nutty mazapan pieces. The strawberry banana croffle was crisp and buttery, with a generous layer of light creamy cream, fresh fruit, and Nutella. The banana Nutella muffin was moist, soft, delicate, fluffy, and delicious. My go to order/pairing here will not be the bananan Nutella muffin and a strawberry yakult matcha. This place rules.
Another coffee gem and not for the faint of heart when it comes to caffeine, as this is a Vietnamese Coffee Cafe! As you all know, Vietnamese coffee is the super caffeine drink which has kept people up for days....well, more like hours past their allotted sleep time. This cute coffee shop has some tasty and delicious blends of drinks. The two baristas, Gabriel and Bang, were not only friendly, but incredibly nice and helpful. Bang even let us sample some of the black sesame cream he was whipping up. Gabriel answered all of our questions and even suggested a unique strawberry matcha yakult latte, which I ordered. I asked for the least level of sweetness and it was perfect. I love that we were asked if we wanted milk alternatives with our drink as we were placing our order. They even print out a label for your cup so you know exactly what you ordered. My friend ordered the Black Sesame Cream Latte which was decadent and a real treat for the taste buds. This is definitely a place to try, especially if you need a caffeine kick or a nice place to sit and drink a special treat--alone or with friends. Check it out and support this local business.
