Crema's Take
“Commonplace Coffee is a thoughtfully run espresso bar where baristas take genuine care with both traditional cappuccinos and creative specialty drinks like perfectly-executed matcha lattes. The space cultivates a genuinely comfortable atmosphere for lingering conversations or solo work, complete with real ceramic mugs and pastries that pair beautifully with their carefully-sourced coffee. If you're serious about your espresso or pour overs, this Pittsburgh spot delivers the kind of quality that impresses even café enthusiasts from traditional coffee cultures.”

Had a hot matcha with oat milk along with the espresso cookies they provide! My matcha had the right amount of foam and was very delicious. The baristas were very patient and pleased to be serving which always feels great as a consumer. The wait time was small, they have a merchandise wall which I browsed. The cafe was also very quiet and the vibes were so peaceful.
Stopped in for a quick coffee before shopping. It was okay. The line was long, not a great set up to wait for your coffee. Line was right in front of tables so it felt crammed. The coffee special was hard to read. I got the speciality maple latte and it was very good. The merch was super cute. I left with some stickers. No almond milk option so my friends left with nothing.
Great location with a solid selection of drinks and bites. My wife and I always compare spots by ordering a cappuccino and a straight latte, and Commonplace did not disappoint. The coffee had great taste—bold and strong. I’d give it 4 stars; the only reason it’s not a full 5 is because we’ve had slightly smoother cups on a recent Portland trip. Still, we highly recommend it for a quality coffee stop. They also had several pastries and cold sandwiches available if you’re looking for a quick bite.
A neat coffee spot with a comfortable chill atmosphere. Friendly, if quiet, employees ready to help. Flavors are great and the portions are worth the money. I even got an actual mug when I ordered in, which is cool. Will definitely come back again, as I would like to try more on the menu. 🧷
One of the best Cafe's in Pittsburgh! Coming from South America and being a Cafe fanatic, it's hard to find high quality Cafe's in all cities. I've tried a handful of "top" cafes from Yelp and Trip Advisor but have been disappointed consistently. The latte and hot chocolate here has been the best I've had in Pittsburgh, and their Quiche was fresh. Highly recommended!
