Crema's Take
“Almaz Cafe is a beloved mom-and-pop Ethiopian spot in Philadelphia where the aromatic coffee pairs beautifully with boldly spiced, tender dishes and generous vegetarian options that keep regulars coming back. The intimate, low-key interior radiates warmth and hospitality—owners are genuinely accommodating to first-timers, making it the kind of place where you linger over smooth coffee and conversation rather than rush through a meal. Whether you're settling in for Ethiopian classics like beef tibs and collard greens or discovering this cuisine for the first time, the quality ingredients and careful spicing create an experience that feels both special and genuinely welcoming.”

Food was flavorful and a good portion! First time trying this specific cuisine and owners were nice and accommodating. Restaurant was a nice, intimate setting.
Small cute cafe with delicious Ethiopian food. We got the beef tibs and vegetarian platter. Loved the beets and collard greens. Coffee was good too. Will be back!
Ive been here several times, always amazing quality food! The Ethiopian food is really well spiced and tender meat, lots of vegetarian options too. Smoothies, great coffee, and some simple wraps and sandwiches as well. Friendly staff, fun atmosphere. Nice to eat in but also casual enough to chill if youre coming by yourself. Huge portions, I usually take leftovers. Super close to Rittenhouse Square!
Very Amazing mom and pop shop with a lowkey interior. The food was absolutely amazing!! We got the vegetarian platter and the beef curry and it was the best ethiopian food I have ever had!!!! Really great and not too heavy.
Came on a Saturday night for dinner, it was pretty busy but luckily there was no wait. The restaurant is overall very cozy and ambient which I appreciate greatly. The vibes are immaculate and the service is very warm and friendly. The food is amazing! We ordered the lamb and beef tips as a shared meal option that comes with some veggies and dips. It was my first time trying enjera (described as a pancake bread that tastes like sourdough) and I thought it was so interesting and tasty. The prices are quite reasonable for the area and overall quality. If I find myself craving Ethiopian food this will be my first choice.
