Crema's Take

Sheila's Baking Co. is a beloved neighborhood spot where the pastries are genuinely exceptional—their cinnamon rolls are the stuff of local legend, and the display cases overflow with generously-portioned treats that bakers and non-bakers alike rave about. The staff greets you warmly and remembers what matters, whether you're stopping by for a quick espresso and a sweet or settling in with friends and family in this approachable, welcoming space. It's the kind of place that keeps people coming back not just for the food, but because you feel genuinely taken care of the moment you walk through the door.

I’m am definitely a pastry/sweets connoisseur and can honestly say this is the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had! Warm greeting when I walked in and everything is right in front on display for you to choose from. It’s worth a drive!

I walked in just before closing and after saying good morning asked for a double espresso. The server was nice and asked me if I wanted any pastry. When I said yes she asked if she could take my pastry order first and then get the coffee. I said okay and after a minute made a pastry choice and she bagged it for me. She asked me to move around to the payment side of the counter and then said that she could not take a coffee order because they had just closed their coffee station, noting that they close at one and it was one. She offered me a glass of water, which I accepted. I quickly looked at my iPhone and it was 12:59 - but that is not the issue. No worries if you already closed the coffee station but why not say that up front, about two minutes earlier when I first walked in and asked for the espresso. I already had the pastry so went ahead and paid for it, choosing not to make an issue in the shop. This review is just a reminder to the shop owner that you didn’t get your great record of high ratings by your employees treating folks the way they treated me today. Nobody was rude, in fact she was fairly nice about it, but it was certainly far from 5 star service.

Pro tip: if you're trying to watch what you eat, go to Sheila's close to closing time... there won't be as many temptations. This place is amazing, a lot of these pastries are big enough that two people can easily split one... which means you can try twice as many kinds! The flavors vary by season, I have yet to eat anything here that I didn't love. The maple bacon donut is one of my personal favorites, but it is seasonal so I have to wait for it to come back each year. The cinnamon sugar donut is my wife's favorite and pairs well with a cup of their coffee. My kids love the frosted donuts with sprinkles (and the maple bacon sadly). Want to pick some up for your family in the morning? Order online the night before and you can just pop in and grab your order off the take-out shelves by the door... very convenient!

Staff was super nice. Prices were reasonable. Food was great. So many options and all the ones I’ve tried were good. I would 100% recommend this place as an Augusta must go.

I'm so glad that Sheila's isn't in Columbia County, because my waistline couldn't handle it lol! Seriously, have you tried her baked goods? I recently had an opportunity to sample several flavors and can vouch for the cinnamon rolls, danishes, kolache, and pecan rolls. The serving sizes are massive, and they taste very high quality. I wish I had more pictures to share, but when they're this good, they go fast.
