Crema's Take
“This beloved 70-year-old Amarillo institution serves up legendarily perfect chicken fried steak alongside comforting home-cooked classics like their full Christmas Day dinner spread, all in a refreshingly old-school setting where ashtrays on the tables and a no-rush atmosphere make you feel like you've stepped back in time. What keeps locals and visitors returning is the genuine small-town warmth, affordable prices, and the kind of unpretentious hospitality where everyone truly feels welcome, whether you're after a hearty meal or just the genuine human connection that comes with a place that knows exactly who it is.”

They served a "Christmas Dinner" on Christmas Day. We ordered the Christmas Dinner Special and enchiladas. The Christmas Dinner was quite good. Turkey, stuffing, mac'n'cheese, green beans, corn, and Germain Chocolate cake. All for a very reasonable price. The enchiladas were a bit over cooked, but still pretty good. Service was excellent; with our drinks being topped off frequently. This cafe has been around long enough to be something of a legend in Amarillo. I am giving it a 5 Star for atmosphere, but it is important to note that they allow smoking in the cafe. It didn't bother me, but it might bother others.
You would think after 70 years of making chicken fried steak that they would have perfected it. They did. You won’t find a better chicken fried steak west of the Mississippi
Fun times Good home town vibes Great service Good food Cheap Drinks Everyone is welcome Easy to find location
Don’t judge a book by its cover ……. My husband and I absolutely loved this place ! As soon as we walked in and saw the ash trays on the table we knew it was gonna be some good old school home cooked food ( & yes they do have a non smoking section) ! Reminded us of our grandparents and our upbringing . Food was amazing !!!!!! We had the chicken fried steak , onion rings and green chili cheese burger with bacon ! Sweet Miss Judy was our waitress and made sure coffee was full and we were well taken care of . Atmosphere was great and the 70s / 80s country music was on point . We will definitely be back !
I like the vibe of the place… well some say it looks outdated, but why we in a rush to modernize everything. New is not always better. Place is clean, and even is “smoking allowed” establishment no one was actually smoking during my meal. Food was simple and good. Customer service is amazing!
