Highly recommend this restaurant! You feel like you are actually in Mexico! Food is great and they have a boutique shop with everything straight from Mexico! Clothes, jewelry, shampoo, boots everything!! It is down from where Shapleys was in Ridgeland!
I had high hopes for this place because of the great reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The restaurant itself is very cute, clean, and spacious, with a café in the front and a small shop where you can buy boots and other items, which is a nice touch. However, when we walked in, no one greeted us or told us where to sit, so we had to find our way to the back. Service was slow, and when the food arrived, it was almost inedible. I ordered the birria, and the meat was extremely tough and lacked flavor, it just tasted like it had been boiled in water. My partner’s beef tacos were also very tough. If you like tough meat, this may be your place, but I personally do not. When we were ready to leave, no one brought our check, and we had to go to the wonder around and ring a bell just to pay. Overall, the atmosphere is nice, but the service and food quality were very disappointing.
Everything at La Morena is very delicious. Try the tamales they are the best homemade tamales. Very unique atmosphere. It also has a Mexican cafe and store, I recommend La morena and margaritas cafe!
Delicious food, super fast, and our waitress was so nice! Made me bust out my old Spanish skills!
La Morena is a great family-owned spot in Ridgeland. I had the Carne Asada tacos with cilantro and onions, and they were fresh and flavorful. The horchata was really refreshing, and I finished with the strawberry tres leches cake which was a nice sweet ending. They also brought out a basket of crunchy chicharrón-style snacks to start. Good food, friendly atmosphere, and definitely worth a visit. Big thanks to Giselle and her family for the phenomenal service!
