Crema's Take

This Danish import has earned its reputation as one of NYC's finest cafés, with an impressive lineup of washed coffees that showcase beautiful clarity—their Sagastume in particular delivers that coveted smooth, tea-like body that makes for an exceptional everyday cup. The espresso-focused menu balances accessibility with creativity, from straightforward pulls to thoughtful specialty drinks like their cardamom latte, all priced fairly for the quality you're getting. Fair warning: the line outside the door reflects genuine demand, but the spacious interior rewards patient visitors with the kind of outstanding, balanced coffee that reminds you exactly why specialty coffee matters.

They have a lot of good washed coffees. Sagastume in particular has a smooth tea like body and taste - a good everyday cup. Pricing is not terrible - $25 for 200oz but in store cups were like $12 a piece which is pretty crazy. I would come here again for tea-like coffees that are washed and tasty baked goods but I was sad there were no special or interesting fermented / funky coffees.

Came here on a Wednesday night an hour before they closed - not busy at all w/ lots of seating available, but I’m assuming they’re usually packed because of the line queue stands outside the door. They only had one pain suisse and many cardamom buns left, but those are their two most popular pastries. They don’t have wifi, but would’ve been a cute study spot otherwise :( Clean bathroom! - Pain suisse ($7.5): 9/10, very flakey and chocolately! Would get again

La Cabra is absolutely worth the hype. The coffee was outstanding—smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, the kind that reminds you why you love specialty coffee in the first place. I paired it with an almond croissant, and it was honestly so good: flaky, buttery, with just the right amount of almond filling, not too sweet and beautifully baked. Yes, expect a line outside, especially during busy hours, but don’t let that discourage you. The wait moves fairly quickly, and once you taste the coffee and pastries, you’ll understand why people are willing to queue. It’s very much worth it. The space itself is minimal, calm, and thoughtfully designed. There’s also a quiet resting/sitting area, which makes it a nice spot to slow down, recharge, and actually enjoy your coffee instead of rushing through it. A must-visit for coffee lovers.

The coffee was delicious! The cardamon latte was so yummy (and they made it warm despite of appearing in the “cold drinks” section of the menu). The place was busy and we couldn’t sit. However, we were happy we didn’t have to queue! The cardamon bun texture wasn’t great. It wasn’t fluffy/airy and it felt too dense. The Swiss pain was delicious and overall perfect. We recommend the place for the coffee, but we also find it quite expensive. Not worth it if you cannot even sit. Almost 32$ w/o tip for 2 coffees and 2 pastries. The staff was very kind.

This is truly one of the finest cafés in New York City. Originally from Denmark, they now have multiple locations across the city, and I’ve visited one — this one happens to be a bit more spacious. When I stopped by on a weekday afternoon, the place was buzzing with energy. There was a steady line at the counter, but the atmosphere felt cozy and lively. I ordered my usual iced cardamom latte, which I highly recommend if you love the aroma of cardamom. The sweetness is perfectly balanced, the coffee smooth, and the milk-to-espresso ratio spot-on. That subtle hint of cardamom really elevates the flavor — it’s one of my absolute favorites. I also picked up a ham and cheese croissant. The barista didn’t warm it up, and I didn’t ask either — but even served cold, it tasted delicious. Flaky, buttery, and satisfying enough to devour right away. I can only imagine it would be even better warm. Overall, great coffee, good food, and an inviting atmosphere. Definitely one of my go-to café spots in NYC — I’ll absolutely be back.
