Five Leaves
18 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Crema's Take
“Five Leaves is a beloved Williamsburg brunch destination where the ricotta pancakes are genuinely worth the wait—fluffy, delicate, and just the right amount of sweet—and the crispy chicken sandwich with fries is equally memorable. The sunny outdoor seating draws a loyal crowd, though service can be inconsistent when it's packed; if you can snag a table and settle in, the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it feel like a neighborhood gathering spot rather than just another brunch place.”

Loved this brunch place. We had the ricotta pancakes, one of the best I ever had. And also the chicken sandwich with fries, wow it was so good. We could sit outside in the sun, which was beautiful! Definitely coming back!
The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was friendly. We got the pancake for our table (5 people) and it was more than enough plus our individual orders. Chicken blt wasn’t amazing but was good. Cappuccino was great
The server/ host with long gray hair said we couldn’t sit at a table due to not having a reservation so we sat at the bar. We noticed that there were at least two open tables the entire time we were there. We waited a long time for menus and for someone to ask for our drink orders. I asked for a menu due to waiting so long time and was told by the same person as before that the bartender would handle us. The bartender didn’t show up for the first 30 mins were seated. When a different server finally took our order, she rushed us and asked if we wanted her to come back when we were ready to order but it was like a 30 second pause in ordering so not long at all. The space was very cramped and hard to feel comfortable in. People kept bumping into me while I was eating. The food was good although nothing super special and between the negative vibe from the servers and the tight space, the experience was very poor.
The food was decent, just enough to give a 4. But overall it was extremely slow service, and they did not handle the orders well. Forgetful and very delayed courses. I waited over 45 minutes for one course to the next. That definitely ruined the experience for me but I won’t go as far as to give 3 stars being that there was no rudeness or any attitude problems with the staff. Simply just slow and forgetful service. The burger was assembled in a way where the ingredients will slip out which you can’t even enjoy the experience, but flavor wise it was good. The best thing to me surprisingly was the chicken sandwich. Great flavor, texture, and not super messy to eat. The pancakes were mid I didn’t like the overly runny yet grainy texture. Not inedible or anything, I just expected a lot better flavor and texture from it. Overall the chicken sandwich itself and the quality of food just gets them to a 4 star for me. If it was out of 10 I’d give this spot a 7 really to be fair. But yea try it out yourself and maybe your experience will be better who knows.
Such a great spot! The ricotta pancakes were amazingly fluffy and just sweet enough. The crispy chicken sandwich and fries totally hit the spot. Staff was nice even though it was packed, and the outdoor seating’s perfect for a sunny day.
