SoBol New Haven

Crema's Take
“SoBol New Haven has built a loyal following around fresh fruit bowls and smoothies, though recent reviews suggest the quality and portions have become inconsistently stingy compared to their earlier reputation. The staff can be genuinely helpful—one reviewer praised a server for letting them sample flavors before committing—but the kitchen seems to be cutting corners on fruit toppings and sometimes sourcing underripe bananas that compromise the drinks. If you catch them on a good day with attentive prep, you'll get a vibrant acai or spirulina bowl perfect for a quick, family-friendly meal, but it's worth asking about their sourcing practices first.”

Third smoothie I’ve gotten where they clearly use green, underripe bananas that ruins the whole drink. Quality used to be better. Please use ripened bananas so drinks don’t taste like grass. Lazy and disappointing.
Always came here cause of the fresh fruit. But the last few times they’ve been doing me wrong with the portions and the fruit quality. I emailed them time and time again but this time I called cause my fruit was spoiled the store manager told me in order to get a refund she would have to reach out to her boss and so her boss reached out and tried to argue with me about the mango being "ripe" not rotten. I eat mango every single day and never had a ripe mango that was brown. They said they usually don't do refunds so I can get another fruit bowl but I told her this was my last time buying from them so l rather just have a refund because I don't want to risk getting sick being that I am 8 months pregnant. I thought everyone should know that they don’t like giving refunds even if it’s their fault but i demanded a refund so I did get my money back but i would never eat here again. The owner is very rude and has a nasty attitude and personality. If you’re in the hospitality industry you must have some type of customer service and/or nice personality.
Loved this place!! I told the person serving me that I was between two flavors, and she let me sample both. I ended up getting a spirulina bowl and it was fantastic!! Perfect for a summer day. Great lunch place if you’re looking for something light and refreshing! Kind workers and great food. Be aware, it is a bit pricey, at least for someone as cheap as me (my bowl was $14 with no substitutions), but for someone who doesn’t get lunch out ever, it was very worth it!
My first time at SoBol like 10 minutes ago and I will not be returning! The manager charged me $16 for an acai bowl with barely any fruit on top. I only wanted one fruit topping as I don't like the other fruit toppings they offer and they refused to fully top my bowl with fruit. Manager had a rude attitude about it too saying I need to pay extra for them to finish my bowl with a single fruit which is completely unacceptable the bowl is incomparable to top acai bowl places like Oakberry- and I recommend saving your $ for elsewhere if you are looking for a nourishing smoothie bowl
The atmosphere was fine and lady at the register was nice. I asked for no coconut flakes and look at the picture and see how greedy the cook was about the fruit. I don’t know if she was in rush but there was literally only 3 people in the restaurant including me. She could’ve at least made the bowl more appealing.
