Dory Deli
2108 W Oceanfront, Newport Beach, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked right on the Newport Beach waterfront, Dory Deli is the kind of spot where you can grab an excellent coffee at dawn and watch the waves while defending your breakfast from opportunistic seagulls—locals keep coming back for the unbeatable location, fresh food, and that perfectly casual beach-town vibe that somehow feels both lively and laid-back.”

I am local and come here very often, intentionally and not. Sometimes i just walk my dog on broad walk and decide to take a break, if you are lucky you can find a spot to sit. Summer might be tough if you want a front side. But the back side is always available if you dont care about the view. Dogs are welcome front and back. I never have bad experiences once. Bussers, cashiers, bartenders are so nice. The bar can close early sometimes on the slow nights. For food, i think i have tried 75% of the menu already. My favorite are follows, Poke bowl : i ask for no rice 5/5 Fritter : 5/5 Dory Wrap : 4/5 (too much dressing IMO) Avo toast : 4/5 Drinks are good here as well.
Step 1) pay for parking, Step 2) order a breakfast burrito, Step 3) enjoy your food while watching the waves and avoiding theft by seagull 👌🏼 Jokes aside, Dory Deli is amazing! Whatever you get, it’s made fresh to order, fairly priced, and served with great customer service. Dine in or take out. This is a great place to enjoy a great meal at the beach!
Sick spot to come grab a coffee at 06:00am and then 3 or 4 cocktails immediately after to start the day off proper. The amount of patrons in here drinking early in the morning is wild and really sets the tone for the entire beach. This is probably your go-to spot to start your day off strong if you’re planning on day drinking. Great vibes with awesome bartenders. Drinks were strong and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
For the location, price, atmosphere this is definitely a 4.8 or higher so rounding up. While not the best fish and chips I have had (those are in London), they were solid. They are a beer batter so if you like that they are good. I wish they had homemade tartar sauce. That is my only complaint. I would probably have scored a little lower if this wasn't on the beach, but the fact that I paid less than I did for my son's Subway the other day played into my scoring.
Reasonably priced for a deli literally on the beachfront. Portions were not too large but overall we were happy overall for the quick stop for food. The food was fresh and of good quality. We, luckily, were able to snag some seats looking towards the front of the bar, good for people watching. I was driving so not able to partake in any beer but would have been good to have a few brews at our location in the bar area.
