Crema's Take

Tucked next to a charming converted one-room schoolhouse farmstand in rural Petaluma, Blooms End feels like a secret worth the backroads drive, especially for Mary's inventively artistic pastries that showcase unexpected flavor combinations and meticulous technique. The whole experience—from the pastry case displayed in a converted van to the on-site farmers market—creates an intentional, intimate atmosphere that transforms a morning coffee into a mini adventure worth planning around.

Bloom’s End is baking literal pastry dreams. The location is delightful- next to a one room schoolhouse now converted to a farmstand shop. A lovely morning drive through some backroads leads you there. I’ve not had one single item here that did not completely amaze me and my tastebuds. The weekly menu is very seasonally influenced, so there’s always something new. The whole wheat viennoiserie has delicious flavor and crunch. Standout items are the very seasonal tomato pie which looks like a simple danish but packs a literal explosion of herby, cheesy flavors layered upon a whole tomato slice on the bottom that’s delectably tender- like a confit. Each menu has beautifully crafted savory and sweet items composed using uniquely paired ingredients, sourced from local farms. I can never walk away with fewer than 4-5 pastries for myself alone! You can eat your treats right in the wisteria draped gazebo!

Well worth a day trip from just about anywhere in Bay Area!!! Farmers market on site is also well worth a visit!! Overall felt like a real treat to know about and make it for the very restricted service of Friday and Saturday!!! Special place and delicious pastries with interesting ingredients that will change with seasons and availibilty!!! Just Go!!!

Always a delight. We live in the East Bay and love the adventure of visiting Bloom’s End and the neighboring farmstand. Mary’s pastries are so unique and inventive. She is an artist! The fresh, seasonal nature of the ingredients truly shines through in each item. Can’t wait to go back!

The pastries were fine but not to my own liking. Something seemed off in the dough flavoring and scent on the cardamom monkey muffin and pumpkin croissant twist. The texture was very tight as well. Perhaps we didn’t order the items that are a wow for others. Went on a rainy day at opening to avoid long lines.

Mary is so creatively thoughtful re: flavor combinations, technique, presentation, caring interactions with those who swing by, the converted van and display case and music and surrounding space itself — just dreamy. It was my first birthday stop for a day out this past June, with some expectation that our preordered box of varied delights would last for a while. Nope! All pretty much down the hatch in one sitting. Ha! Thanks for your loving care in the community, Mary! ❤️
