The Front Porch
5925 Adams St, Lincoln, NE
Crema's Take
“This Lincoln institution has carved out a beloved spot as a genuinely family-friendly gathering space, complete with board games, an indoor play area, and consistently cozy vibes that keep regulars coming back despite some recent wavering on service consistency. Beyond the traditional coffee drinks and matcha offerings, The Front Porch shines as a comfortable meeting spot where you can settle in for hours, though recent visits suggest quality has been a bit uneven. It's the kind of place where a turkey bagel melt with chipotle aioli feels special enough to remember, and where the warm atmosphere often matters more than perfection in every cup.”

I’ve always loved coming to this place over the years, but recently there’s been a noticeable dip in both service and quality. The atmosphere is still warm and inviting, however my recent experiences with staff have felt less welcoming. On my last visit, I waited about six minutes to be greeted while the owner was prepping. When I ordered a parfait, it was served with frozen strawberries, and rather than checking in or offering a refund or alternative, it was simply served as is. Additionally, on a day when BLTs were discounted, I still paid close to $8 for one that unfortunately didn’t meet expectations. I’ll continue to be a customer, as I truly enjoy this place, but I do hope future visits feel a bit more friendly and attentive. I believe a little extra care for the customers would make a big difference.
The turkey bagel melt was delicious. I got chipotle aioli with it. The atmosphere was cozy. Lots of tables, some board games, and indoor play place if you have kids, and a screen with a beautiful fall picture. The coffee, however, was not very good. I got regular coffee with coconut milk and pumpkin flavor. It just had no coffee taste. It was very watery and dull. And I'm not a huge coffee person, but my sister also said it was weak.
We ordered DoorDash, so I cannot comment on service or atmosphere. As far as the food is concerned, well, it's alright. I have a weird suspicion it came from Costco or Sam's Club. It's genuinely something I could have just bought at the grocery store. My partner and I both dumped our coffee. The burrito and breakfast sandwich seemed to just be heated from frozen, and the large muffin was... let's put it this way, if you order a small muffin it's not unlikely it's pulled from a bag of Hostess Mini Muffins, then put in a plastic clamshell with parchment paper on the bottom. *Toothpick container for scale in photos.
I ordered the Berry Neighborly Tea and it was not a great taste. I'm learning to be a tea person, so I added a sugar packet and it was better. The gal who helped us wasn't super friendly. She wasn't rude or disrespectful, but just not overly outgoing or happy. The indoor playground is something you're allowed to use. It is a great place to have in a coffee shop, but I do think it could use a little love. In multiple places the drywall needs some love and paint. The floor needed cleaned so bad. I know it's the funky rubber floor, but if you're going to have that flooring, you have to keep it clean.
This place is the best to take little ones! They have the best equipment for them to play and it's really clean. The staff is just great. I had planned a small birthday party for my sons first birthday at a park and it decided to rain. As a last ditch effort, I called this place and asked if we could hold it here and it turned out perfect. More then I expected. Their coffee is the best I have ever had and they offer sugar free options for my fellow diabetics! I plan on taking my son here every week!
