Crema's Take

Tindley Tea Cafe is a beloved Black-owned brunch and tea destination in Philadelphia where the warmth of the staff matches the quality of the food—think fluffy chicken and waffles, perfectly executed steak and eggs, and thoughtfully crafted traditional drinks. The space itself draws people in with its beautiful, inviting atmosphere that feels genuinely welcoming, making it equally perfect for a solo tea session, a family gathering, or meeting friends over pastries and a full breakfast spread. What keeps people coming back is the genuine kindness of the team, from the hosts who handle walk-ins with grace to the kitchen that executes every plate with care and flavor.

We had an amazing experience at Tindley Tea Cafe! The atmosphere was phenomenal such a beautiful, welcoming space with an incredible vibe. From the moment we walked in, everything felt warm and inviting. The service was just as impressive. Our waiter and the entire staff were extremely attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal! Every detail, from the ambiance to the customer service to the delicious dishes, made this visit unforgettable. I can’t wait to go back!

Really good service even though we were a party of 11 with no reservation. Ebony (maître d’) was so kind even when scolding us for not having a reservation. Lol Unfortunately our scheduler didn’t think to make 2 reservations and she wasn’t able to get anyone on the phone. Ebony accommodated us while keeping her composure and managing the busy crowd of patrons. Waitstaff was attentive. Food came out quickly and hot. No alcohol served. Peach drink was good. Fried fish was the best dish then the chicken and waffles. Pancakes and waffles were tasty. Salmon was least favorite. Best sides were sweet potatoes and grits - try combining them. Green beans and mac n cheese were different but not in a bad way. Berry compote was salted and caught me by surprise. Speakeasy vibe in the church basement. Dimly lit and quiet. Cozy. Bday sparklers came out too early but was a fun surprise. Overall a good experience.

I truly whole heartedly love Tindleys. The men and women who work there are amazing and so kind the customer service is always great! The chicken and waffles was fluffy and flavorful. The steak and eggs ( which is not available on sundays ) was the best thing on the menu! The owners are amazing and very customer feedback focused. They actually made my day please stop my you will not be disappointed! 💗

So I was scrolling through TikTok looking for brunch in Philly on Sunday , and I love a good black owned spot baby. Anyways we came at opening and it was already a line. The owner Im guessing and his wife were very impressionable . He went out the way to ask our experience , shook hands with my boyfriend and everything. It felt like going to my family’s house to eat, jazz playing in the back dimly lit, and your close enough to hear who ever you came with too. That mac burned the hell out of my mouth but it was so worth it🤣. Honestly I didn’t have space for all the food. Oh well noticed the staff was very diverse too!
