Crema's Take
“Achilles Coffee Roasters in Del Mar captures that perfect balance of a serious espresso and pour-over destination with genuinely welcoming vibes—reviewers consistently praise the bright, airy space and friendly staff, making it equally suited for a solo work session or catching up with friends. Beyond their skillfully crafted coffee, they've built a solid reputation for their acai bowls and bagels at fair prices, especially their $5 large pour overs, so you're not just getting caffeine but a complete, thoughtfully executed cafe experience.”

Pros : Coffee and Acai bowl, clean store Cons: Customer service. I think I got them on a bad day. I asked for utensils for my acai bowl and she handed it to me saying a back handed remark. Also her one of the workers, female with glasses from this morning’s shift saying “they’re dumb”. Customers can hear everything and she lacked professionalism. Doesn’t matter what you’re talking about. 💡 I recommend having to-go utensils on the customer side or by the walls. Also if people ask for To-go food, please give them utensils too instead of having us ask for them. Also recommend a pick up counter for food as when our name was called, there isn’t a clear place to get it and just trying to find the person who called the name. Thanks.
Nice people, bright airy shop, clean, good sandwiches, good coffee. $5 for a large cup of pour over is a great deal. Always enjoy spending time here, the vibes are peak.
The staff was super friendly, and this turned out to be such a great spot to study and work. The atmosphere was lively, and I had a latte along with a jalapeño red pepper bagel with cream cheese—both were delicious. The entire menu looked amazing, so I’ll definitely be back to try more items. Plenty of parking available too, which is a big plus!
Achilles Coffee Roasters is a colorful and cheerful shop with welcoming service. There’s a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating, and the food options are solid. The New York bagel had a crisp exterior and a nice chewy texture, and the butter added good moisture and flavor. A satisfying bite. The seasonal pumpkin spice latte was warm and comforting on this cooler morning, and it came with a heart design on top. The shop had a steady flow of customers and was a pleasant place to sit and get some work done. Around 10:00, it started to get busier. Free parking and WiFi are also available, which is a plus.
Achilles Coffee exceeded my expectations. Besides a smooth cup of coffee (with heavy whip), the atmosphere was open and airy. The indoor and outdoor seating complement each other, especially with the large open doors, which is perfect for Del Mar weather. While drinking my coffee, I was able to catch-up on some necessary reading. Yes, others were either enjoying conversation or working on their laptops. This coffee shop is dog friendly, to include dog treats. Next time you are in Del Mar, stop in and enjoy a coffee moment at Achilles Coffee. I am already looking forward to my next cup ☕
