The Refuge Coffee Food & Wine
4000 E Sky Harbor Blvd, Phoenix, AZ
Crema's Take
“Nestled in Phoenix's airport, this refuge lives up to its name with genuinely stellar service—especially from staff like Destiny, whose warmth and kindness seem to brighten every interaction—paired with espresso-driven coffee that's rich and creamy, just how specialty coffee should be. They've mastered the art of the quick-grab sandwich and breakfast items, from fresh-made croissants to thoughtfully prepared avocado toast, though made-to-order items require patience; the team is also notably attentive to allergen and dietary concerns, treating each order with care rather than airport-grade indifference.”

Destiny was fantastic - her personality is so welcoming and sweet! She makes everyone’s moods better by being so kind. We got food from here and then came back later for drinks, mainly because Destiny was so great! She deserves praises!
best little sandwich in an airport….ever! I got a toasted ham and cheese croissant and it was made fresh and served hot with a bag of chips for much less than some of the other little convenience stores sell a ham sandwich here. It’s a little enclosed so it’s a little private nook in the middle of a busy airport. The food was delicious. The service was great. The price was surprisingly affordable
I had a good Turkey BLT here at the restaurant and they had some cookies that liked so yummy. I bought one l later. It was too hard to bite, stale and an odd flavor. I thought I bought white chocolate but it was white chocolate, Peppermint, pretzel. Did I mention it tasted terrible! I told the staff and asked for a different one. They wouldn't accommodate. I'd rather write a great review than a mediocre once but in this case, it's mediocre.
The coffee here is gooood. It's rich, creamy, and perfectly hot. There’s a nice variety of breakfast options too, but be warned: anything made to order takes a while. My avocado toast bagel (a pretty simple order) took about 20 minutes to come out. The portion of avocado was generous, but overall the food was just okay. I'd give it a solid 3 stars. If you’re short on time or have a tight connection, I’d recommend grabbing something already prepared, like a muffin. The coffee comes out fast, though, and it’s definitely worth it.
Good coffee and great service. The staff were patient while I asked allergen questions and walked me through how they handle gluten free food. Airport prices will never be worth the quality you get but I'll happily return.
