Blue Bottle Coffee
3366 Via Lido, Laguna Beach, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked inside a shared workspace in Laguna Beach, this Blue Bottle outpost delivers the company's signature elevated espresso in an unexpectedly intimate setting that's perfect for a quick, quality coffee fix rather than lingering. The calm, modern aesthetic and thoughtfully crafted drinks like their balanced matcha lattes make it worth seeking out, though fair warning—it's more grab-and-go than hang-out territory, and the location means seating is limited. If you're a Blue Bottle devotee or someone who appreciates meticulous coffee craft over cozy cafe vibes, this hidden gem won't disappoint.”

This is such a weird little Blue Bottle Coffee outpost, but it serves up the delicious espresso you know and love from the amazing company. It's located inside a shared workspace type office, so they ask you to keep quiet, LOL. There isn't much seating at all, and the coffee bar is a little outshoot from the main workspace rental area. I guess it's great if you're paying for a spot but otherwise, this isn't a location where you can sit and work and sip espresso all day long. Parking is next to impossible, so be warned. I was lucky that my hubby was able to drop me off and drive around the block a few times so I could run in a fetch coffee for us. We ended up drinking it in the car. This Blue Bottle does have stunning views of the adjacent marina, with lots of fancy pants boats just steps outside. The coffee was exactly what you expect from a Blue Bottle: high quality, pricey, and done just right. My macchiato was excellent and worth every penny (in my opinion). If you need your Blue Bottle fix, you won't be disappointed in this location.
I ordered a matcha latte at Blue Bottle Coffee and it was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced—not too bitter or sweet. The café has a calm vibe, great for working or relaxing. A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality.
Cautious Before Going !!! If you want to find a coffee shop to chill and relax, this is not the place for you. They shared the space with SAP and the building staff will not let you sit there although it says open seating everywhere. They charge $4/hour for seating unless you go outside. Definitely worth it after you paid $7 for a coffee and you can't even enjoy it? They should put a sign outside telling people they charge $4/hour for seating and let people can decide if they want to shop here.
Blue Bottle at Lido in Newport has long been one of my go-to spots for a coffee that feels both elevated and comforting—right by the water with that signature Blue Bottle vibe: clean, modern, and quietly cool. Their cappuccino and flat white are consistently excellent, with beautifully textured microfoam and smooth espresso. The baristas here really know what they’re doing—thoughtful, skilled, and always kind. You can tell they care about every cup. That said, I was disappointed to see they’ve recently stopped offering organic Clover milk. It was one of the things that set them apart—knowing that the milk matched the integrity of their beans. While the coffee is still top-notch, it’s a noticeable shift for those of us who prioritize organic ingredients. On the pour-over side, they offer a great selection of single-origin options and are always happy to guide you if you’re not sure what to pick. I usually go for a medium roast, and it’s always smooth and flavorful without being too acidic. The pastries here are another highlight—the almond croissant is a must, especially warmed up. But my personal obsession? The waffle. It’s unlike anything else—light, crisp, and almost custardy inside. They’ve also added overnight oats and a few other health-forward options for days you want something lighter. Overall, I still love this location for the experience and the baristas, but I do hope they reconsider bringing back organic milk—it made a great coffee even better.
My absolute favorite coffee shop. I found them in San Francisco and was thrilled when this one opened in Southern California. I love the coffee so much, I now have the beans delivered to me in Orlando! Whenever I’m in town, I always visit this cafe. The pour over is my favorite with half and half. Always an excellent cup of coffee. Smooth and never bitter. The cafe is beautifully located on the bay, so you can take in the sights. There is a lot of seating outside as well as a few seats inside. I love the natural wood, clean atmosphere. Very minimalist. The staff is consistently helpful and friendly. Always a great experience. See you again when I’m back in town.
