Crema's Take

Hubbard Avenue Diner is a nostalgic slice of Americana where the coffee hits the spot and the real draw is their legendary made-from-scratch pies that rotate with the seasons. This is the kind of place where families linger over weekend breakfast and everything from the sausage to the hash browns is prepared daily in-house, creating that unpretentious diner charm that feels genuinely earned rather than manufactured. Stop by for a quick coffee and pastry, or settle in for a slower morning—either way, you're getting a taste of something real and rooted in the community.

Good food in a fun atmosphere. Have been there several times, and the food is as expected, but the services varies. Service was great Saturday morning, but Sunday, it seemed apathetic, and the front counter was weird when trying to buy a t-shirt - there was an aversion to simply telling me the price. I recommend Hubbard Ave for a good standard breakfast. I have had pie in the past, but not this time around.

While working in Middleton, Wisconsin, we stopped into Hubbard Avenue Diner for lunch (right next to the National Mustard Museum). It ended up being the perfect quick stop during our break. 😋 This classic American diner has really cute retro vibes, friendly service, and a menu full of comfort food favorites. I ordered the half sandwich and soup combo — the turkey pesto sandwich was fresh and flavorful, and the white chicken chili was warm and delicious. 🍽️ They’re also known for their pies 🥧, so definitely consider saving room for dessert!

Great selection in menu. Sausage was a little plain but coffee was good. There was a little wait but it was Saturday morning. First time for pie with breakfast but it worked.

Place was clean and service was excellent! Putting 4 stars because the huevos rancheros weren’t very “ranchero” if you ask me.. and the Hash-browns weren’t very brown.. they were a bit undercooked. But now we know for next time to ask to make them a bit more crispy. And for the huevos rancheros, we recommend mixing the black beans with a red chunky salsa and putting the eggs underneath it all.

Hubbard Ave. Diner is as Americana as you can get. The food is all made daily on site. They’re known for all their pies. Thru offer different varieties dept ding in the season. All the food was good and service was nice. They offer meatloaf, burgers and fish fry Fridays typical to diners along with a decent menu. The popover rolls were served warm with butter! I liked that they chilled the salad plate and greens were nice and crisp. The turkey dinner was good and wholesome with a really good cranberry relish. The broasted 1/2 chicken was good too. We split a slice of caramel apple pie and I can say I loved it as the crust was really flaky!
