Crema's Take

Nestled inside the Nelson-Atkins Museum, Thou Mayest trades the typical coffee shop hustle for a calm, gallery-adjacent vibe with stunning views of the plaza and museum grounds. The baristas are genuinely enthusiastic about their craft—crafting smooth espresso drinks and accommodating creative customizations—while keeping both prices and wait times refreshingly reasonable. It's the kind of place where a quick caffeine stop becomes a moment to linger, whether you're between gallery visits or settling in with your laptop.

I ordered an iced vanilla latte. Customer service was great, coffee was affordable and made quickly. Taste was the best I’ve had in a while.

I stopped in after visiting a few galleries at The Nelson Atkins and had a quick, enjoyable latte. The cafe area has a nice view of the north side of the museum and plaza park space. The coffee is good. If you are in need of a quick cup while visiting the museum, stop in!

I don’t know that I’d come all the way here just for the coffee. But if you’re in the Nelson anyway, this is definitely worth a stop. I showed up early to beat the crowds and get some caffeine before strolling some of my favorite spots in the museum. The chai tasted great and was served at just the right temperature. The barista was polite and efficient. Seating was comfortable and quiet (though I’m guessing it might get noisy later in the day). I’ll definitely do this again on future visits.

Great service, the barista was very enthusiastic and friendly. He had great recommendations for the folks ahead of me and very open to making customizations. My macchiato was very smooth with a nice touch of bitterness and packed a good caffeine punch. The menu was very elaborate with several house made cold and hot beverages including a assortment of high quality snacks and chocolates.

What a cute coffee shop right inside the Nelson-Atkins Museum, hits the right note for coffee and chill. It’s inside a museum and boy the decor and vibe is on point, it has the best view of the museum and the shuttlecock. I highly recommend it for the view and the amazing people running the shop. Coffee was a little on the dark dark roast side which I’m usually not a fan of so wouldn’t recommend the latte or at least a concentrated 8oz, the other options might suit you better. They have some pastries and cold brew as well.
