Crema's Take

Home Maid Cafe is a beloved local breakfast spot in Kihei where Portuguese-Hawaiian comfort food takes center stage, particularly their legendary malasadas that keep visitors coming back long after their honeymoon ends. The casual, bustling atmosphere draws both island regulars and travelers who come for the generously stuffed spam and sausage breakfast sandwiches, French toast, and breakfast mocos made with genuine warmth from owners who treat strangers like ohana. It's the kind of unpretentious neighborhood gem where simple, excellent food and genuine hospitality make you feel like you've stumbled into a cherished local secret.

Wonderful little restaurant. My husband and I discovered this hidden gem while we were on our honeymoon and came back several times. Their menu is simple yet delicious and the malasadas... oh my. Can't go wrong with this spot. We witnessed several customers coming in just for the malasadas! Customer service is wonderful as the lovely lady who takes your order is very sweet. Definitely worth trying them out!

Hole in the wall local spot. Owners are great and the malasadas were so good! I also tried the spam and Portuguese sausage, felt like home.

Excellent food with a great vibe. The welcome mixed with great food makes me feel like I am home. Best French toast around. Spam breakfast sammies taste great and pack easy to go. Last but not least, 10/10 malasadas. Come, eat!

I had the Breakfast Moco and the malasadas. The restaurant was very busy and it makes sense why, the food was amazing and the staff were very nice! My favorite of the malasadas was the cream filled, it was delicious and not too sweet like some creams can get.

Busy place and it seemed had both locals and visitors to the island. Food tastes excellent. I had a 3 egg omelette with Spam, Green Peppers, and Onions. This came with a side and I chose hashbrowns, they were a little thin and crispy but not bad at all. (I added the ketchup before thinking to take the picture). A bit expensive for what I got in my opinion. The general appearance of the place was lacking just a bit. Speed of service - It took maybe 10 minutes to be served, so it was reasonable especially with how many orders they were trying to fill. The woman who took my order was very nice. You could tell it was a local “mom and pop” place - so I didn’t mind the above “negatives” that much. Exterior bathrooms that needed a pass code, it could use a good cleaning. But I think it’s shared with other venues so maybe not their responsibility?
