The Hobbyist
2100 N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC
Crema's Take
“This cozy Charlotte gem in the NODA neighborhood strikes that rare balance between serious espresso craft and a living-room vibe that makes you want to settle in for hours. The eclectic vintage-meets-industrial aesthetic, curated playlist, and creative seasonal drinks create an atmosphere that feels more like hanging out with a thoughtful friend than sitting in a coffee shop. Whether you're catching up over a perfectly pulled flat white or working on your laptop surrounded by church pews and mismatched vintage furniture, The Hobbyist rewards you with genuine warmth and attention to detail.”

Always a treat coming here! Their seasonal drinks are fun and innovative, the music is sophistically curated, and there is an atmosphere of “stay a while and linger.” Busiest on Saturdays, so go early if you want a parking spot and a seat.
What a gem of a coffee shop! We went there after a walk in nearby Cordelia Park and while we are digital nomads, we were the only ones not working at the coffee shop on this visit. Lots of remote workers stlutting at the bar and scattered around the multiple seating areas, focused on laptops and enjoying drinks. Lots of beverage options, from teas and coffees, to cocktails, and a huge selection of canned drinks. A small selection of baked goods in the glass display case. We tried the iced chai tea latte with the macadamia nut milk and the Sicilian Breakfast Tea, which they brewed and iced to order. A great flavor blend with coconut, vanilla, biscotti green tea. We paired the drinks with the chai spice pumpkin muffin. Super moist and very flavorful. Friendly service, great setting and a wonderful coffee shop and bar. I'd definitely choose this place again for a perfect coffee shop setting for work or a cocktail. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars
Absolutely obsessed with this place. The vibe is perfect. Low-moderate lightning, with a nice mix of eclectic vintage and modern-industrial style. Delicious latte, fantastic playlist, and great customer service. Lots of different options for seating as well as some outdoor seating. I will be back often.
Our son visited over the weekend so we spent the day together in Charlotte. He recommended The Hobbiest & I quickly fell in love with the mix of church pews and spaces & their sofa & coffee table felt like home. I took many pics of the decor, to capture as much as possible. The Hobbyist inspires folks to sit back and relax or get some work done. The bar area was also amazing! As a daughter of former grocers in Detroit, we had wine shops & this store-like concept combined with a coffee shop is impressive! I introduced myself to Maddie, who made our coffees and when I asked, she told me that Sunflour Baking Company Co. nearby supplies the baked goods. I appreciate the local aspect of it! And hatchet coffee is one of my favorites by the way! She talked me into the cinnamon roll & it is one of the best I have ever tasted! I highly recommend a long visit or even a meeting or networking event! 👍👍 Happy Exploring! Josephine Local Guide
