Colectivo Coffee State St

Crema's Take

Colectivo's State Street location is a sprawling, social hub that shines as a hangout spot with plenty of nooks for lingering over work or catching up with friends, though the coffee itself tends toward the middle-of-the-road and service can feel stretched thin during busy hours. The pastries are solid, the pup cups are a nice touch, and the welcoming vibe keeps people coming back—just manage your expectations if you're after exceptional espresso.

Popped in with a few friends while we were in Madison. I didn’t get coffee so I can’t speak to that, but the blueberry muffin was tasty, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was fun. A great place!

Employees all seem severely overwhelmed and stressed. I get the sense that they are very under-scheduled and mismanaged. I was also disappointed to see app orders being made while in person customers wait for extended times. Employees were all nice and seemed to be trying their best. I hope colectivo starts to treat their staff better!

I got the pumpkin fluff latte with oatmilk and it was probably the worst coffee ive ever purchased at a café for seven dollars i was very disapointed. Plus one star for the pup cup though.

A smooth cafe experience. Many people don't realize these cafes are not hiring professionally trained customer service experts. If you have a diet or other issue, or need something resolved, you have to ask questions, ask for a supervisor, and ask for what you want. You must give staff a chance to fix the mistake, instead of expecting them to know how to flawlessly fix your problem without asking. This is a local cafe chain, not L'toile. I ordered the soothe sayer tea, avocado toast, and blueberry muffin. It was all fresh. Lots of avo spread across the toast, which had the right consistency. I asked for the muffin to be warmed up. It was warm, fluffy - lots of berries. The cafe is two floors. Lots of seating and sunlight. Music on the sound system was fine. Tables/chairs are wood. The air was comfortable on a humid hot day.

Can’t give less than 5 stars for a coffee shop as accommodating as Colectivo. Sure the coffee is on the mediocre side (better than Starbucks at least) but the location is brimming with areas to hang out and work, across several levels. I especially like the upstairs area with open view and seats galore. Outlets everywhere, great app with great rewards. A great spot at UW.
