Uncle Loui's Cafe

This will be my go-to spot for breakfast when I visit Duluth. Food came out under 10 minutes piping fresh. The restaurant was near pack with customers, so really impressed with the food delivery. I ordered country fried steak, 2 sunny side eggs , bf potatoes, and biscuits & gravy. The food was great! As busy as the restaurant was, I only met staff three times, which was to order food, receiving food and my check. I wish staff would had check-in atleast once as I needed a refill of water and more napkins.

I stopped in for a quick breakfast after working at the hospital. My waitress at the bar was an absolute doll. My food was ready in less than 5 minutes- she served me some fresh coffee and the food was just what I was wanting. The French toast had a healthy serving of whipped butter that was delicious. If I come back to Duluth I’d love to eat here again. Well done!

When my husband and I travel we always like to find little mom and pop shops and restaurants to go to. We were looking for somewhere to go for a lunch/brunch and this is where we ended up picking. It's a little confusing when you walk in and are told to seat yourself and don't understand that there is additional seating in the back past where the wait staff filled drinks and do the dishes. When we first walked in we were not greeted by anybody and we had two or three staff that walked by us when we were sitting at the table before anybody brought anything or explained to us how the ordering would work. We weren't sure because there was no menus anywhere and nobody was coming to our table. We ended up ordering the chicken fried steak which was very good and the hash browns and the eggs were all cooked perfectly. We didn't care for the pancake. There was something that was added to it and we couldn't figure out what it was exactly and we were thinking maybe cinnamon but the texture of the pancake was also very off-putting. If we're in Duluth, we would give it a try again to try something different on the menu. I would just maybe recommend explaining to people how it works with your seating and make sure that people are being greeted by staff. There was staff that was sitting down at tables talking to people that were in there and goofing around and I feel like if they maybe put a little more work into waiting on tables of their customers instead of casino with the people that they know people were probably feel more welcome.

Ate here twice while vacationing in Duluth. I was very pleased with both of my meals. The biscuits and gravy I had the first day were amazing. Then I just had to come back to try the French toast. It did not disappoint! I got the stuffed French toast with strawberries, and it was amazing! I was also very impressed with the service. They were busy, yet I still got waited on and got my food rather quickly. If you’re in the Duluth area, I would highly recommend!

Uncle Loui’s has been on our “food list” for a couple of years now as we’re from the Twin Cities and was excited to finally cross it off the list. Loved this little spot - seat yourself as soon as you walk in, and there was a convenient 2-person booth at the front. Got served immediately with drinks, and food was incredibly fast and cooked to perfection. Great hearty breakfast - exactly what we wanted on our drive. Staff was so nice and efficient! Would come again 🤩
