Crema's Take
“Oakhurst Café feels like a beloved local secret in Charlottesville, where the charm of a historic inn sets the stage for thoughtful brunch gatherings and coffee that actually rivals what you'd make at home. Their strength lies in creative, chef-driven specials—think pastrami lox toast and waffles with unexpected touches—paired with both classic comfort drinks like a proper Breve and more adventurous choices that show real care in execution. It's the kind of place where you linger over conversation and quality ingredients, though the cozy quarters mean it's best visited when you're in the mood for an intimate, unhurried experience rather than a quick caffeine fix.”

We love having brunch at Oakhurst Inn. Our favorite starter is the Trio of ham biscuits with a Breve cup or a London Fog. Then onto sharing a great meal. This time it was their special, waffles with pistachios, whipped marscanpone, with prickly pear sauce. Outstanding treat!
We had such a great experience here. I ordered an oat milk latte and it was really good, honestly better than the ones I make at home 😂. We tried the chef’s special pastrami lox toast?, and we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The beets added a nice freshness that balanced everything so well. My husband had the Bloody Mary and said it was perfect for his taste. On top of that, the staff were incredibly nice and accommodating, which made the whole visit even better. We’ll definitely be back!
The staff and the food were all great. However, there was a group of five female students who were extremely loud, which made it very difficult for us to have a conversation at our table while eating. The restaurant was completely full and there was a line, and even though other customers were clearly giving them looks, they didn’t seem to care at all and continued being loud from start to finish, making the entire place noisy. I wish the staff had stepped in a bit more to manage the situation.
I just moved to the area and saw this place on my way to work, so I decided to swing in with a friend. It’s a quaint inn that gave cozy vibes. We went on a Friday morning at 8:30 so it wasn’t crowded. First of all, Kay and Cheyanne are so amazing. They gave such good recommendations, I went for the seasonal coffee that was honey/almond/blueberry and the avocado toast. The coffee blew me away with how creamy it was, despite being dairy free???!!! I’m super picky about my milk, I’m a firm believer that coffee should be served with full fat milk, so with this drink I was beyond impressed. I also looked at my bill and they didn’t charge me for the drink??? So generous of them😭❤️ As for the avocado toast, I took a leap of faith and went with Kay’s recommendation, and it didn’t disappoint. I never order this at a restaurant (they just tend to be overpriced and nothing special), but the marinated tomatoes and flakey sour dough sounded so good and it exceeded my expectations. Definitely would come back and order the same items because I just loved them so much, but also excited to explore the menu more. Come here for the best service, delicious food, and a cozy place to catch up with some friends on a slow morning.
I went here for brunch to celebrate my birthday, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I found the location to be cute, affordable, and the food was very tasty. Great quality and unique flavors. The beignets were delicious! A must have. I enjoyed their locally brewed kombucha. The atmosphere was much louder and more boisterous than I would have imagined on a Sunday at noon. It was hard to hear my family talk at the little table we were squeezed into. The service was great, and I think that in the future I would sit outside because sound really carries in the little cottage. We made a reservation in advance.
