Crema's Take

Principio Coffee roasts beans with a purpose you can taste in every cup—their silky, naturally sweet espresso drinks stand beautifully on their own, whether you're ordering a careful pour over or a matcha tea alongside locals who've made this spot their morning ritual. What sets them apart isn't just the quality of the coffee, but the mission behind it: 100% of profits go toward their work in Honduras, so every visit genuinely makes a difference while you're sipping something genuinely excellent. The team here, led by folks like Melvin, Luke, and Alex, creates the kind of warm, purposeful space where good coffee and doing good in the world feel inseparable.

Principio has the best coffee! You can drink the coffee black and you’ll never want for any cream or sweetener. Better for the body! Help their cause and help yourself to an excellent cup of coffee. My favorite is Creole Brew.

Melvin & his team are fantastic! The coffee is amazing, very smooth & strong. It's a perfect way to start your morning. Plus, you are supporting their great mission in Honduras with every purchase. 10/10 recommend.

A new Piggly Wiggly grocery store opened here in Mt Laurel in Birmingham. I saw Principio coffee while browsing the shelves and decided to try it. I really love it! It is my new favorite! I’ve gone through two bags and look forward to my cup of coffee in the morning. I love the purpose behind the coffee. Proceeds go to the farmers in Honduras. My daughter is a Spanish major now at UA and she told me that the word principio translates to “beginning.” Perfect! The price is reasonable as well at around $10 a bag. Happy with the best coffee I’ve had in a long time and what a great, easy way for me to help the farmers in Honduras.

Such a great taste, and amazing impact around the world as a social business. Cool that 100% of profit is given away!
