Park Avenue Coffee

521 Olive St, St. Louis, MO

Crema's Take

This downtown St. Louis gem combines genuinely excellent espresso work with irresistible local pastries, especially their legendary gooey butter cake that keeps people coming back. The baristas here actually know their craft and will guide you through seasonal specials like their apple fritter latte while remembering regulars by name, making it feel like your neighborhood spot even on a first visit. It's the rare coffee shop where the coffee is taken seriously, the pastries are worth the trip alone, and the staff's warmth makes you want to linger with your laptop or meet a friend.

Saw the rave reviews about the gooey butter cake and it lived up to the hype! Was amazing. The cashier was nice and recommended a seasonal drink, an apple fritter latte. Was great! Cozy Seating inside. Overall solid coffee shop to visit.

It's the best coffee shop downtown by a mile. Their baked goods are excellent. Their coffee is excellent. When I was going there more, the staff knew me and my coworkers. I think the only thing would be they could probably be in a bigger space some days, but that's just a testament to their quality. It's the only restaurant or cafe where I have their promo card on my keychain. Excellent place downtown or anywhere.

Let's start off with the staff. Even though the digital menu was not working, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They answered every question and they knew the difference between an American Macchiato and a traditional Macchiato. The whole bean selection gave a wide selection. After the macchiato I had to try a cup of the drip coffee. The selection was a Tanzanian Peaberry in a medium roast. Although I'm a light roast fan, the medium roast was quite good and full of flavor. I was surprised to see they carried Highlander Grogg as a flavored whole bean option. There was a nice selection of pastries to tempt the sweet tooth in anyone. I tried the traditional Gooey Butter Cake. It leaves your tongue searching for more. If you find yourself in the downtown St Louis area, stop and grab a cup. Coffee is Life.

We are here from our trip across a few states, and it's wonderful! The coffee is actually incredible, compared to some of the coffee shops I've been. The coffee actually tastes PERFECT to me. It's better than I expected. Before an 8 hour trip, it's certainly incredible! The atmosphere is very relaxing. Very clean and friendly. Also pretty reasonably priced for delicious coffee!

Two baristas made our day. I ran in for coffee and they recommended the gooey butter cake and it was great! My girlfriend loved it and I looked like a star. Thank you. Coffee was also very good.
