Crema's Take

Faria Bakery is a spacious, welcoming spot where the real stars are the buttery, decadent pastries and creative specialty drinks like their cherry mocha and black sesame latte—it's become a favorite refuge for Sacramento coffee lovers since Grateful Bread closed. The relaxed, kind staff and lovely vibe make it ideal for lingering with a laptop or meeting friends, though some feel the coffee prices are steep compared to the truly stellar baked goods that keep people coming back.

Such a delightful place! Staff here is relaxed. The atmosphere is most welcoming. Since grateful bread bakery closed in Sacramento, I have been looking for a place to replace their yummy goods. Today I happened on Faria bakery. It’s definitely one of the secret gems in Oak Park. Decide for yourself, and come, taste the delicious foods.

We came here twice over the last 2 weeks. we love their lattes and pastries. The place is spacious and has lots of tables. We ordered their Cherry mocha, black sesame latte, mocha, cortado, cookies, canelle, bun, smoked salmon with bread, cakes, etc. They are all delicious. The latte is smooth and came out with beautiful latte art. You can request less sweet. The place is easy to order through their tablet. And the staff are efficient in getting the orders fast.

Everyone who works there is sweet and kind and the vibe of the place is really lovely. The tea and coffee are pretty good but feel somewhat overpriced. The pastries are really why you come here imo. The bread is pretty decent in comparison to some of my favorite bakeries but could use some improvement. My jaw gets a workout with some of the under-proofed loafs. For such a fancy place it feels weird to get a microwaved "McEgg" sandwich that costs almost 20 dollars. They have really great bread in the place, but use some sort of potato loaf for this that is not my fav. My least favorite part of the experience is the iPad ordering. I go to places like this to interact with humans and chat about the day... not to scroll on 5 different iPads that constantly have issues where I have to scroll through a list of pictures when the item is sitting right there on the shelf. It makes the experience feel like a weird fast food restaurant for which it is not. My opinion is to class up the ordering experience, remove the ipads, re-work and re-brand the Egg Sandwich so there is no $1 McDonalds reference in there... Once the weather improves I can see the outside space being a lovely place to hang out or meet someone for a morning coffee.

This bakery is one of my favorite places in Sac. The only thing that I have slowed down to photograph is the pizza but i have indulged in the cookies, lattes, pain au chocolat (so decadent, buttery heavenly goodness) and nothing has disappointed. Ordering ahead is super easy. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming whether you are calling to check if they have any cookies left or are stopping in which i really value. Cannot recommend a bakery more for enjoying the experience of dining in or grabbing something to go. Super cozy yummy soul filling vibes in Oak Park!

Saw this place online, looked like a cute spot to grab coffee and pastries so we went. They actually moved buildings so it’s not the cool looking skinny building anymore. It’s the building next to it. The vibe inside this place was dead. There was a lady making drinks, didn’t look up to welcome or greet us. Didn’t bother to ask us if we needed any help. We saw they had 3 self service tablets so we ordered our drinks. They were out of pastries already since it was 11AM so we couldn’t try any. There was NO interaction with the employee behind the counter. When she called my name for the drinks I was trying to say thanks but she turned away quickly as if trying to avoid contact. This kind of behavior is what’s going to kill the business. Our drinks tasted fine but might have been better with friendlier service. We are trying to support local and small businesses but this kind of experience makes me want to stick with my usual spot.
