Crema's Take

Tucked in Greensboro's historic district, this cozy coffee house excels at making both regulars and first-time visitors feel genuinely welcomed, with staff who go the extra mile with thoughtful recommendations and a warm atmosphere. Beyond solid traditional coffee, they offer an appealing range of teas (including matcha), light sandwiches, and pastries that make it easy to linger—though fair warning, the intimate seating means you'll be close to neighbors, which is part of the charm for those seeking a community gathering spot.

The reason I'm writing this review is because my partner (who is too kind to leave one) was harassed and patronized by the owner or manager. This was the final straw. I can personally recall at least two separate times this same man--his name is either Dan or Matt, harassed me as well. I've been a faithful regular here... or I was. One morning I came in, ordered my coffee, and sat down. While I was on my phone waiting for my drink, this lanky white guy walked up and asked if I had purchased something. I told him yes and went back to what I was doing. Not satisfied with my answer, he walked over to the counter to ask the barista, who confirmed exactly what I said. That kind of treatment sticks with you. And now, after seeing my partner treated the same way, I'm done. Bottom line: I will not be returning. If you want to run a business, consider treating your clientele like people; not like animals. Cheers.

Service & atmosphere here are great. I've been in at least 5 different times and the staff is always kind and on point, even offering recommendations, which I appreciate. I always grab and go but it looks spacious and I would like the chance to be able to stay longer. However.....the coffee is terrible. Not that it tastes bad but....it doesn't taste much of anything which I found surprising given how popular the place seems. I usually have a latte of some kind, more recently tried a dirty chai and all the drinks - no matter what the flavor profile is *meant* to be - taste the same. The dirty chai just tasted like a mix without espresso. I went back to have a 2nd shot of espresso added and it still tasted the same. I have had drinks hot and iced, I've had different milks, different syrups - still no nuance in the taste. The most distinctive tasting drink I had was the Christmas cookie latte which is obviously only seasonal.

I am caught between "plenty of seating" and "the tables are too close together." I really enjoyed my sandwich though. I asked for a "for here cup" and they gave me a to go cup. Thats okay, the latte was delicious. Also picked up some pastries to take home. Gender neutral restrooms.

Great experience at the Coffee House. It was my first time in the area, and they made me feel very welcome. I enjoyed my coffee.

Tate Street Coffee is a small coffee shop in an historic part of Greensboro. They have a wide variety of coffee, tea, smoothies and menu items. The coffee shop has some seating in the back of the coffee shop that can accommodate one or more in a party Enjoyed a very good cup of coffee and pastries. I ended up with a Parisienne (w/o liquor :)) - which was such a great choice. Really enjoyed the roast flavor of the bean and subtle hint of sweetness. The other drink was a normal latte; again, great roast flavor. The pastries we got were so good. We got the vegan glorious morning and lemon poppy seed muffin -- and let me say this: don't leave Tate Street Coffee without trying one of these. They are incredibly most, packed full of flavor. The two staff members we encountered on the weekend visits were so helpful. You see, we can get traditional coffees but I was looking for something unique, different and a blend that I can't find in other coffee shops - which is where the staff came in. They helped explain some of the drinks and offer up what flavors I'd taste. The staff really brought the experience.
