Crema's Take

Hina Rae's is a bright spot in Waimea where the staff's genuine warmth matches the quality of their food, from inventive acai bowls to surprisingly craveable pork belly banh mi sandwiches that'll have you forget to take photos. Their specialty drinks—think matcha lattes alongside excellent iced coffee—are best enjoyed on the outdoor seating where you can linger without feeling rushed, though portions of ice can be generous. It's the kind of neighborhood cafe that feels both casual and intentional, where pastries and creative seasonal offerings draw you back, especially if you've got family in tow.

Awesome place, very moist waffles. Good acai bowl and chia pudding. Worth the price.

We got an iced coffee and matcha! Both tasted good but it was quite expensive. When we got our drinks they were mostly ice. If they dropped their prices I’d give them a better rating for what we got.

I'm always looking for a good Acai bowl so while my other half was at NHCH I headed to Hina's place. When I walked in the young lady came from the back and was super sweet and helpful. She helped me pick an Acai bowl so I got two of those and two of the grilled cheese with spinach. The Acai bowls had unripe papaya with the skin, almonds and a tiny amount of blueberries and granola. The bowl was very bland and did not taste good at all. Pretty disappointed since this place is supposed to be awesome for Acai. The grilled cheese was ok (hard to mess up bread and cheese) with tip I spent over $60.

Got the pork belly banh mi sandwich and acai bowl. I just wanted to sample the sandwich and take the rest for lunch... Was so good I ate both. Almost forgot to take pics because I ate it all too fast! That may have been one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!

Nice small caffe with good selection of items on the menu, the açaí bowls were good. Couldn’t eat inside due to covid. Located on a plaza with additional food options, a restroom and grocery store, we used it as a quick pit stop on the way to the volcano. Price was reasonable and portion sizes were quite generous. The kids loved it.
