Shaka Shack

2300 Blanding Ave, Alameda, CA

Crema's Take

Shaka Shack is a intimate neighborhood gem tucked into an Alameda corner with just 13 tables, where the real atmosphere comes from the genuine chatter of staff and kitchen—no background music needed. The food carries authentic Hawaiian flavors with real quality ingredients, and while it gets crowded fast and prices lean high, the engaging crew and worthwhile wait make it a spot worth planning around, especially if you can snag a seat on their small patio.

3.5 stars Sat inside, simple decor. No music no tv, no ambient sound.. just cooks and staff chatting/flirting. Wasn't terrible, just weird. Food was good, but expensive for actual quality of ingredients. Waffles themselves are boring, but toppings make it. Cobb salad is a very weirdly composed dish, but still good. Moco locos are obviously a well executed dish. Little House was great but also kinda weird, and keeping Alameda weird is wonderful.

The food here is legit. Tastes like you would find in Hawaii, and good. Staff is very engaging and they have a good selection of items. The restaurant itself is very small. A couple of tables indoors, outdoor seating when it's available and a modest parking lot. Just be aware it might be better too to get takeout and try to sit if it's crowded.

Cute little “shack” spot in the corner. They only have 13 tables. 5 inside and 7 outside in their patio. Make sure to find a table first then order inside. Entrance is on the sidewalk side. I accidentally almost entered through the back where the parking lot is lol. We shared the big kahuna loco moco which is perfect for two. I wanted to try alittle bit of each meat options they had and knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it all. The hamburger patty and kalua pork was really tasty and good. I think the sausages were kinda overcooked though. My ube matcha latte looked nothing like the picture but was still very good. The ube Malasada was just ok. It could’ve used more filling. Overall it was pretty good and I’d most likely come back to try other stuff!

Today we tried lunch at the Shaka Shack for the first time, and we will definitely be back. They were busy when we arrived, but we had time to hang out and the food was worth the wait. The crew was nice and personable. We wound up chatting with other customers. They surprised both our tables with complementary Malasadas which were delicious. Everything was delicious.
