Crema's Take
“Gooseberries Kafe feels like a beloved friend's kitchen come to life, where the owner genuinely treats guests like family and every pastry and egg sandwich tastes unmistakably homemade. The eclectic mishmash of vintage chairs, couches, and cushions creates an unexpectedly cozy charm that sets it apart from typical brunch spots, making it the kind of place where you'll want to linger over fresh-squeezed juice and those legendary Sunday-only cinnamon rolls. It's the rare San Diego breakfast destination that nails both the food and the soul, with ample parking and a warm welcome that keeps locals coming back.”

Our favorite breakfast spot in SD. everything is so fresh. very much homemade. cutest place too. the owner came out and talked to us for a bit who was so nice and accommodating. we had the egg sandwich, a lavender latte, cold brew, cinnamon roll. will definitely be coming back again soon.
Such a good choice for a breakfast bite. My first outing with my mom after getting into town and I was glad I found this spot. We stopped by on 2/15/26 and found parking out front. The mocha and butterfly lemonade were tasty. The blueberry french toast and jam were such a good combo. But my egg, biscuit and crispy prosciutto were uhmaaaazing. I’m a biscuit girl and love a good biscuit, this one was a 10/10. The prices are great and there is a cute fig tree growing across the patio wall. The to-go container has a cute comics wax paper inside. I definitely recommend.
Adorable setting and very tasty food. The crispy prosciutto and cinnamon rolls (sunday only) were the stars 🌟 The staff were lovely. Worth checking out. Nothing that blew me away though, so 4 stars for now.
Absolutely lovely breakfast cafe that is unlike anywhere I've been. The makeshift dining area made up of an assortment of chairs, couches, and cushions was surprisingly cozy and truly added to the charm of the place. The food was delightful and exceptionally made (Our Order: London Fog, The Raf, French Toast w/Sausage patties, and an Acai Bowl). While our wait was unintentionally a little longer than expected (~20mins), it was clearly not the norm and the staff was super complimentary about our checking-in. After all, they're only human. That's the only negative I could think of as the food, atmosphere, and service were wonderful. I highly recommend the Acai Bowl and London Fog. Be aware of them being a scratch kitchen and come early if you can. Will absolutely come back again 😁
Such a cute cafe! It's a scratch kitchen so everything is made fresh there, and you can definitely taste it in the food and drinks. We got their breakfast plate and avocado toast with some fresh OJ and a latte. Great portion sizes and delicious taste! They also gave us one of their vegan apple pastries 🤤 I'm not usually a sweet pastry person, but it was so tasty!
