Crema's Take

Spyhouse Coffee Roasters has carved out a beloved corner of St. Paul's coffee scene with genuinely excellent espresso drinks and rotating seasonal specials that keep regulars coming back—their lavender lattes and decadent Carmella are particular standouts. The vibe strikes that perfect balance between purposeful third space (great for lingering with a laptop or meeting a friend) and efficient quick-grab destination, all wrapped up in a chill, family-friendly atmosphere complemented by exquisite pastries like their Danish and chocolate croissants. Fair warning: the quality comes at a premium price point, but most visitors find the care in their coffee and welcoming space worth the splurge.

Spring menu is out! Delighted with my breakfast this morning…slightly on the pricier side. Danish was exquisite!

Great spot to sit and take a beat. The coffee is fantastic. The seasonal specials are delicious. They have a solid selection of sweet and savory pastries. If you’re feeling decadent, get a Carmella with oat milk and slowly melt into a puddle!

Great spot for a family coffee stop. Lavender latte was smooth and relaxing, espresso hit just right. Kids crushed the almond and chocolate croissants, plus a gooey cinnamon roll. Chill vibe, friendly staff, and solid space inside just note parking can be tight with a 1-hour limit. Worth the stop, though. We’ll be back.

A classic Minnesota coffee shop, now unfortunately, featuring prices that are even higher than their chain competitors like Starbucks and Caribou. After tax, I paid close to eight dollars for their signature, spy, girl latte, and I recall it tasting much better in the past, this one was a bit disappointing, as it tasted so watered down, it was really hard to describe, but the rich flavor I once remembered, now seem to be missing. As always, though the staff was very friendly, even though service seem to be quite slow on this particular Monday morning. Perhaps I will return soon and try a coffee with a different type of milk and flavoring. Regardless, I would still rather give house my money then to a big corporate chain. The spy house this one in particular are still really good places to work and work and meet friends.

This place basically had a line out the door at around 10 a.m. on a Sunday which is a good sign. With that being said the line moves quickly and I was impressed was the efficiency of the barista working. All of my drinks were great and the baked goods were on point too. I would recommend this place to those that know good coffee and don't drink that mainstream trash. All in all a neat little spot and well run place.
