Crema's Take

Ember and Bean is a warmly designed espresso haven tucked into a modern apartment building in Saint Paul, where baristas genuinely listen to what you love and craft thoughtful recommendations alongside impeccably pulled shots and seasonal specials. The space strikes that rare balance of being both a serious pour-over destination and a genuinely comfortable spot to linger, with friendly service, full breakfast offerings including homemade biscuits, and creative seasonal drinks like their "Cool Cats" blackberry lemonade that keep regulars coming back.

Cool, modern spot underneath an apartment complex. Plenty of places to sit. Standard drink menu with seasonal specials and pastries. Latte was good and strong without being too sweet.

Enjoyed my first time at Ember and Bean. Iced sugar free vanilla latte with 4 shots of espresso. Barista was kind and gave me many suggestions based on what I like to drink. The vibe is comfortable with many different seating arrangements. Match for the matcha lovers! I will return next time I am available on the weekend

Really nice space in the retail floor of an apartment building. Super friendly server. I had the "cool cats" (blackberry lemonade) and berries and cream toast. The toast and lemonade were both presented beautifully and were very tasty. Real dishes for dine in. They might need to add staff as it was a bit busy for the barista at 7am but she was still very friendly.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere, coffee, and food. I got the breakfast sandwich and was quite delicious with their homemade biscuits. My husband got the chicken breakfast burrito which looked phenomenal and he said tasted great with real ingredients. Coffee was roasted to perfection and delicious. They are even dog friendly, so many cute doggies!!! Would definitely recommend stopping here for a cup of coffee or a bite to eat.

I was so excited to see that a brand new coffee shop had opened in Oakdale Minnesota. The city has been in need of a local, independent coffee shop for so long, and we have been stuck only having national chains. This coffee shop is still in their soft opening phase, so the full menu wasn’t available, but I was really impressed with the sweet and unique offerings that were on the menu. My brother and I ordered two coffees, I had a coffee that was called the lumber, Jane and my brother had a turtle mocha type of drink. Both were absolutely delicious, the espresso was rich, bold, and the combination of sugar, and the different flavors like sea salt and maple, really made these coffee drinks stand out. The cost of the drinks ranged from about $6.50 to $7.50. The coffee was very good, definitely better tasting and higher quality than somewhere like Starbucks. The coffee shop also had a variety of bars and other sweet treats, but I did not try any this time. The space that the coffee shop is housed in is a brand new apartment building, and there is so much comfortable seating, with great lighting, big wide windows, and a relaxing and productive atmosphere. This is a great place to work and have some coffee, or meet friends. I’m really surprised and impressed and so happy that a place and space like this finally exists in Oakdale Minnesota. I will definitely come back here again, as a matter of fact, as someone who drinks coffee every single day, I don’t think I will ever go to another chain again, now that this place is so close. All the staff and all of the barista were very friendly and happy and they gave me great suggestions. It would appear that this coffee shop originated in Hudson, Wisconsin, so I wish them the best of luck in this new location.
