House of Bread
1025 Farmhouse Ln #1F, San Luis Obispo, CA
Crema's Take
“House of Bread is a welcoming neighborhood gem in San Luis Obispo that excels at both coffee and full breakfast spreads, with a cold brew that's worth seeking out and pastries that live up to the name. Despite its tucked-away industrial location, it's earned loyal fans for its fresh, generously portioned food—from avocado toast with unexpected delights to carefully executed large catering orders—and a genuinely friendly staff that makes you feel like a regular from visit one. It's the kind of place where you'll linger over a leisurely brunch or find a quiet table to work, especially if you're passing through to the vineyards or airport.”

I like this place. A bit pricey but not to bad. But man they gotta fix the signage out front. Not only is there nothing but industrial buildings around (that make it seem like there are no restaurants here) but there are massive signs out front that are hyper aggressive saying things like "authorized parking only" "violators will be towed" etc sending signals of "get out of here". Do you actually want people to come here? Although this is probably the property owner's doing not HOB
We had a fantastic brunch this morning. I got Avocado Toast with a scrambled egg. It came with a surprise salad that was delectable! The cold brew coffee was fantastic as well. My other half had a breakfast burrito and he loved it. We'd definitely go back.
I ordered a breakfast for 40 people, including vegan options. Coffee and juice as well. Separated in 2 equal portions for a Bride house and Groom house. Everything was spot on perfect. Delicious and fresh and no complaints to be mentioned! Thank you so much to Sheila for her great communication and to the staff that really helped make a magical weekend even more perfect!
Very nice location and plenty of tables for guest eating inside. Items were well stocked and looked very fresh. My order was prepared and served at my table in timely fashion. The staff was very friendly and helpful in suggestions for my breakfast choices of ham, sunny-side up eggs, black beans and wonder varieties of toast paired with raspberry jam. Very delicious and on my list to return for the lunch or brunch experience. Also had the Lemon Bar which was better than the. classic that you may be thinking of. No picture because it was that good. 👍🏽 The name “House of Bread” speaks for itself so if you enjoy different varieties, flavors or choices, you gotta go.
The House of Much More than bread is quite an amazingly pleasant temple to all things flour related. Of course, if anyone is on their way to or from the airport or vineyards, this is a great pit stop for snacks, refreshments, and so on. It is also a nice place to grab a thoughtful last minute yummy gift for the locals. This was my first stop, on my marathon of rescuing, day-old goods, via the "Too Good To Go" program. The lady who helped me was really nice & helpful. It was fairly early on a nice sunny Sunday morning. While I had some trouble with one of my camera systems, I still took a few good shots. It is funny how I notice things better after later looking at the pics. I will have to try again another time, with some of my Macro lens to get some cool close ups of some tasty looking items. I did score a yummy loaf of bread and some pastries which I later munched on at home. The bread is way above what one typically finds and reminds me of European Style loafs that are more of a meal in themselves. This loaf was heavy, hefty, and satisfying, without feeling too dense. The last time I was at this building was when there was another business there. HOB has done a good job with taking it over, and I was generally impressed and really wanted to linger longer, but time was wasting. I still had to pick up & save excess eats at four other places. Later on, the mixing and matching of all sorts of baked goodies was fun. Adding a little butter or jam after toasting some items really enhanced the pleasure...and sadly, the calories. HOB surely has a fairly extensive bakery menu and some interesting breakfast/brunch choices. Lots of items really appealed to me for the future, such as a pie, or bagels. Good bagels are really hard to find in SLO. I looked forward to more visits here, since I live in nearby Shell Beach. If they have any "mistakes", I can stop by anytime :)
