Crema's Take

Jake's ONE Market is a surprisingly well-stocked neighborhood grocer that punches well above its weight, offering everything from quality groceries to impressive niche items like vegan alternatives and specialty beverages in a clean, compact space. The real draw here is the hot bar with solid lunch sandwiches and breakfast sammies that locals keep coming back for—just maybe ask them to skip the parchment paper. It's the kind of convenient, friendly spot where you'll find yourself shopping more often than expected, thanks to genuinely thoughtful variety and a welcoming vibe that makes it feel like a genuine community hub rather than just another market.

It should be an A-, about a 4.6. I hit this little store a lot. Strangely, it is more convenient to get to when traffic is bad the the larger, closer grocery chain store. They pack a lot in this little store and what they have is good quality. Parking can be rough. It's great that it is in the food desert of the ONE. I think it is about the only place around

Hot bar sandwiches are a good go to on lunch break or a morning Sammy. Although I’ll say this- stop using parchment paper I’m sick of having to disassemble my food everytime to get the paper used for sticking that only sticks to your food serves as an inconvenience and gets me ripped

Clean store, good offerings for being a relatively small space. The cashiers are *almost* always friendly, just a couple could use some customer service training. Definitely a place I stop at several times a week!

Impressive variety of foods from the basics to more niche health-minded foods like vegan meat substitutes, beverages, ice cream, snacks. It has everything a grocery store would have and the prices were fair. This Old North End market is more than what you would expect from a small local market - I grew up in New England and you see these sorts of markets all around but this shop had something different about it and I appreciated walking down each isle and browsing the selection. If you need a snack or a few groceries and are nearby it's definitely worth checking out.

This is such a valuable market to have in the ONE. I am impressed with the variety of quality products they offer in a small, clean, and welcoming space. I buy most of my groceries there and only occasionally supplement from other stores. I am so grateful that they've been here over the last year and I know a lot of folks in the ONE appreciate them. Even if some items are priced higher than you can find elsewhere, I like supporting my neighbor and paying a bit extra to ensure they are successful and stay in the neighborhood. Smaller stores like this have higher expenses than larger stores so it makes sense. Jake's is right-sized for this neighborhood. It all ends up balancing out in the end since I'd have spent money on gas or lost time to bike to a store further away. Bonus is that I don't have to deal with traffic or larger crowds. Shopping at Jake's is pleasurable, not stressful. Staff are friendly and helpful. They take the time to connect with each customer. I'd give 10 stars if I could.
