Crema's Take

Chez Pierre is a beloved Vietnamese-French hybrid bakery where loyal customers return year after year for pristine Napoleons and delicate fruit cakes that strike the perfect balance between elegance and restraint. The intimate space invites lingering over excellent coffee and fresh-made savory dishes, though the cramped quarters mean you're truly sharing the experience with other pastry devotees rather than hiding away. If you're seeking that rare French bakery standard—where pastries taste like they were made this morning rather than this week—this family-run spot in Metairie has been nailing it for over a decade.

I have been coming to this chez Pierre to purchase desserts specially the Napoleon for over 10 years. It is rather pricey and I’m OK with it because it’s difficult to find this level of French pastries elsewhere. Today, I ordered a Napoleon and it was extremely hard. I had to get a knife to cut through it. I told the lady behind the counter and she says- that’s how it’s made - however, for 10 years I’ve been going there buying it and it has never been that hard. Couldn’t even bite into it. It felt like one of these very dry dry dry crackers so I’m very upset cause I spent $47 I asked them to fix it. They didn’t. I left it on top of the table cause I really felt like their customer service was poor..that’s upsetting cause at best, My experience has always been that restaurants try to fix the problem. I will be the last time that they see me there. I hope the owner reads because this will definitely drive customers away

Cakes are okay, just plain. Maybe by fridge were ai dry, and they weren’t fresh. The coffee was so good, but the ambiance small bad, and I wanted to eat and run away. I’m not sure if I’ll get back. I’ve noticed that the name is French but is a Vietnamese restaurant- that confuses me.

This is an amazing bakery. The people started it from Vietnam and they have an assortment of fantastic looking pastries from cakes to cookies to pies you name it. They have it for pastries. Very delicious and all all in store made. They also have a couple of chairs and tables where you can sit. They don't have a nice cup of coffee in whatever pastry you decide to buy to start the morning off. It's a nice place. The windows are quite large for the sunshines brightly in in the morning brighten the place up the employees at cheerful and always glad to see people come in for they can serve them I suggest this place would be a great place for a nice, custom-made birthday or anniversary or any kind of cake you decide them to make for you. If you try this place, I suggest that you would like it. I recommend it for everyone

I enjoyed the real food that is made fresh/made to order, but I do not like their cakes and pastries. I feel like it’s hard to get fresh pastries and desserts from here, but the bread I have had no issues getting freshly baked. Over the years I feel like quality has declined, and it’s more accurate to call it a French styled or inspired bakery since the owner is not someone classically trained in French cuisine

I ordered their 8-inch Fruit Chantilly Cake for my mom’s birthday ($34.90 excluding tax), which serves about 8-10 people. The cake was so delicious! The taste was very smooth and was not overly sweet. I had pre ordered them on the phone a couple days ahead. Pricing was not bad at all considering the good quality of it. Service was nice when I picked up the cake. The inside was neat and organized as well. I also ordered an additional Mini Mocha Cake ($6.25) and Medium Fruit Tart ($5.05) during my pick up. Both desserts were tasty as well. I’ve never tried their actual savory dishes here, but I’ll gladly say that Chez Pierre is a classic spot in Metairie when it comes to Viet/French pastries and desserts
