Crema's Take

Cake Bar is a beloved Syracuse gem that's earned its reputation as much for its cozy, adorable atmosphere as for its meticulously crafted desserts and specialty drinks. Their banana pudding is legendary—silky custard layered with vanilla wafers and fresh whipped cream—and adventurous sippers rave about unique offerings like their taro espresso, while their specialty hot chocolates draw devoted regulars. It's the kind of spot people return to multiple times during a short visit, filled with young folks enjoying the smooth vibes and thoughtfully made treats.

I used to love going here but it’s starting to go downhill. I came in to get one of their specialty hot chocolates and this is what I got instead. Last year I came and it looked just like what was being advertised. Not to mention we waited 20+ minutes just for a basic hot chocolate, whipped cream, and drizzle. I didn’t even get a singular marshmallow in this when it’s advertised as being a “s’mores” hot chocolate. If they were running out of materials it would’ve been nice to know before spending $13 on hot chocolate.

The banana pudding is the absolute best!! The custard is always perfectly smooth and creamy layered with vanilla wafers, bananas and topped with freshly whipped cream. The bubble teas, tarts, panna cotta are also good

I was visiting Syracuse for a couple days and ended up coming to Cake Bar twice. The shop is adorable, the atmosphere is cozy, and every drink and dessert I tried was fantastic. The taro espresso was so good I had to come back again. On my second visit, I grabbed a lotus cake and a café latte for a late-night treat — both were delicious. I’d absolutely come back anytime I’m in town.

We popped in while waiting for our table at dinosaur BBQ on a Sat night and it was packed! After visiting on Sat night, we went back on Sunday and Monday during our short visit to Syracuse because the food and options were so good! The bacon sunrise on brioche was an incredible choice. The everything bagel with also a good choice for breakfast. Was also able to try the buffalo chicken and ham and cheese from their pastry display which were good for when you want something that is not a sandwich. The pandan coconut coffee drink was not too sweet and loved it enough to order it 2 days in a row. The pumpkin roll, carrot cake and macarons were also great options. So happy to had stumbled upon this place during our wait because we were able to count on it as a reliable place to pick up food through the weekend!

I had no idea the Cake Bar in Salt City was a satellite location and that this was the main spot! My sister schooled me and took me here. What a lovely place. Many young people were enjoying the smooth ambience. We had a passion fruit flavored custard type dish which was tart and tasty. I loved it. It is a place that reminds me of where I used to hangout in college. The decor is very welcoming and homey. The dishes are good and apparently the drinks are as well.
