Crema's Take
“This Pittsburgh gem pairs thoughtfully crafted specialty coffee drinks with genuinely impressive homemade ice cream, where unexpected flavors like lavender and vegan brownie batter prove the kitchen takes creativity seriously. The warm waffle cones with hints of cinnamon and the inviting mix of indoor and outdoor seating create the kind of neighborhood spot where families linger, and the consistently high marks from over a thousand reviewers suggest they nail both the coffee and the sweetness.”

Seeing that it was homemade ice cream, I was pretty excited to get some. I got a three scoop combo to try different flavors. Buckeye, cookie dough, and smores. The only good thing about it was the cookie dough pieces. Buckeye had no flavor, the s'mores had no marshmallow, no Graham cracker. All of it was basically flavorless. Save your money and go get like two cartons of Edy's or any other ice cream. I don't know how this place has a high rating. That was some sad ice cream. Wish I could get a refund. Anyone who says its good is full of it. Girl behind the counter, wasn't rude, nor kind, just kinda there. Weird interaction. But long days can do that. Friend got a milkshake and she said it was even worse, she tossed hers half way through drinking it, I at least finished mine. Bathroom was grimy as heck. Made my skin crawl. Not hard to wipe the sink down once a day or week. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a month. Each step across the bathroom floor my feet stuck. Hover if you can.
The creamiest and most delicious ice cream, you literally cannot choose a “bad” flavor. I opted for the seasonal lavender and oh my, it is fantastic! How they made such an herbal flavor so creamy and delicious, I’ll never know, but I’ll continue enjoying! The young women who waited on us were very nice and efficient as well! Highly recommend!
I’ve eaten at the Wexford, PA, location before where the service is prompt and the ice cream delicious; however, this time I paid for a single scoop cone and a double scoop cone where the single scoop had more ice cream than the double. Also, the serving size wasn’t even half of a cup. This coast me $15. I feel so violated! The attached photo is of the double cone. Very disappointing.
This is a great place for a cool treat with seating outside and inside. The waffle cone was still warm with a hint of cinnamon in it. The staff is very nice and they had a bunch of flavors to choose from.
As I promised to them at the event, I'm reviewing the vegan Brownie batter ice cream. It's easy because it was delicious and I really appreciated vegan option at the outside event at Spirit here in Pittsburgh. Only one thing is missing to perfection. It's the option sweetened with only dates or coconut sugar or maple syrup. Just some less processed sugar or monk fruit etc. But that's just a side note to make possible to eat even more of it...I really enjoyed full double size of that chocolate Brownie batter flavour, it was decadent, creamy, coconutty, rich, fancy and melting smoothly in mouth. Thumbs up and thank you for making sure (that not only) vegans can enjoy ice cream.
